Sure flap help

Hi all, I’ve recently acquired a kitten in a flat that already has a SureFlap. I am paranoid about her getting out, because she is both new and an idiot.

I haven’t programmed her chip, I’ve set the latch thingy to closed both ways, and I’ve removed the batteries. Is that as secure as it gets? Or does removing the batteries set it to be a regular cat flap? Currently if I push it it holds firm but she can be pretty determined…

Advice please for an anxious cat mum!

Edit: I’ve put the batteries back because somewhere it said when they run low it reverts to a normal catflap? But the arrow is pointing to the left.

How old is she? She may not be ready to go out anyway.

She’s 8 months, but the point is I don’t want her to get out! I’m trying to make sure she’s firmly inside! Shes only been here two weeks and isn’t spayed yet.

Oh I see. I’d maybe be inclined to put something heavy in front of it. We’ve had a car break in through a locked car flap before now.

If it’s locked no cat should be able to get in or out tho, right? This should stop it being used completely?

Yes, in the picture the catflap is set to closed both in and out so your cat shouldn't be able to escape. They're pretty robust, neither of our cats have managed to get out when ours has been locked shut.

Ok thank you. Am a very anxious first time cat mum.
