Hi all,
I'm getting worried about our cat.
She's been all over me which is unusual as we've never really bonded. My daughter is her 'Mummy'.

With regard to bonding I should add that she was my Nan's cat. Nan rescued her, and when Nan passed away we took on the cat.

She keeps finding places to hide out. Normally she'd just sleep on a bed.

I'll post a photo. Curtains up and messy because put heating on for an hour this morning. She's just not one to do this.

Do cat's just pass? She's about 12 at a guess.

Thank you

Old Cat.

We've had her for 6 years , so I know it's not normal for her. Thank you.

If she's hiding she might be in pain. A trip to the vets might get to the bottom of it.

If she's hiding she may be feeling poorly or in pain. Keep an eye out for passing urine, and book into the vets.

urbanbuddha · 17/10/2022 13:29

Yeh, you need to take her to the vet. Sounds like she's in pain. 12 isn't that old for a cat.

BertaHoon · 17/10/2022 13:36

Thank you. I'll see if I can get her to the vet.

Being my Nan's cat, everyone told me (my Mum and her sisters) if I took her on she'd be a 'family' cat, as in help financially or if I wanted to go on hols.

Getting that help has never transpired.

12 is an estimate, she certainly wasn't a kitten when Nan got her. Difficult to work out.

Thank you 😢

Hard to check re urine but she was doing some business in the garden this morning when I first looked out.

She's whittling I know because she never comes to me unless her bowl needs filling.

12 is no age really for a cat. They can live to over 20 easily.

Mine is 17 soon and still going strong.

BertaHoon · 17/10/2022 13:57

Just trying to look back and add up age.

I think she would have been about 4 when Nan got her. Lived with Nan for at least 4 or 5 years before she died. Been with us 5 years.

Probably more 14.
She's just sat up and curled round other way behind the curtain.

Do cat's just die naturally?

I don't know what to do for the best. Needless to say I don't have the rest of the family near by to help or transport.

I honestly don't know how old she is, my Nan got her as rescue. She was fully grown.

She needs to see a vet. How do you manage vaccinations and flea/worm treatments?

A 'natural death' very often means a painful and distressing death, ignoring her medical needs and just waiting for her to die would be negligent. Please don't do that.

Excuse me, but I'm in fucking here!
I've just had to arrange my daughter staying at her Dad's.
We have a monthly subscription for flea and worm treatments.

Don't you dare insinuate that I don't look after her.

She's brushed daily.

She's never needed a vet.

Unlike my other git that loved fighting baby foxes.

Well she's just jumped up and had something to eat... Fucking hell.

Thankfully I can't put this desk together thanks to our other lovely gitbag. He knows when Mum needs a break (of when Mum is having a breakdown!)
