How can you bloody lose a front tooth when you hardly get out of bed?

Just been to the vet it was very dramatic taking them both on the bus but they were very good to be fair. Dolly the youngest and fattest one has lost her front tooth and I swear it was there just the other day. She’s only four I’m mortified. I’m doubly ashamed because she’s just had fleas as well. She literally eats and sleeps. Daphne beats her regularly but I don’t think she would punch her in the mouth. She’s eating just the same and doesn’t seem to be in pain. She’s lost 400grams which this new lovely vet wasn’t bothered about but it can’t be related can it? I feel like a bad person🙁

Cats can get resorptive lesions on their teeth that cause them to fracture off.

What did the vet say? Its quite unusual for a 4yr old to be so lethargic especially in this warmer weather.

Give Dolly a hug from me, and Daphne a very stern look

She probably waits until you've gone to bed and gets her own back on Daphne. I have one that does nothing but sleep but he is pretty much completely nocturnal.

The odd tooth loss in a young cat isn't great but if she starts needing more dental work get her bloods done. Vets do a basic blood test for a health check before anesthesia but a more detailed one would pick up other issues.
Poor dental health was a flag we missed for a young cat with kidney problems.

i got roasted by my vet when my 10 year olds tooth fell out for no apparent reason. They made me feel terrible for neglecting him, but it literally just fell out on the sofa one day! He’s also a lazy boy so I assumed he did it cleaning his claws.

Then I had to pay £700 to have him anesthetised to have some more (possibly all!) removed. 😫.

While he was under, the X rays etc showed no apparent reason for the first tooth falling out, and he only had one other taken out, so it wasn’t as bad as they’d anticipated, but still cost me just as much. Annoyingly.

Hope your kitty is ok. They are good at covering up their pain and I honestly hadn’t realised he was suffering at all, but he does seem a bit more perky this week, so I think he must have been in some pain before.

Last month she did seem to have a vomitting bug. Shes very very hairy and i put it down to hair balls but then i noticed it was just like water and she peed on my bed twice and was sneezing . All out of character but it went over night and seemed her normal self. We are in a flat so she plays chase with Daphne and goes out for a maximum of an hour even then its just to find a spot where she can watch the world go by. Vet said it looks fine and not to worry just to keep an eye on it incase the root is still there. Said gums were healthy.

shall i take her back for bloods? She really really hates going 😕

My cat used to get bunged up with hairballs. I found adding a few of the royal canin hairball biscuits on top of her wet food helped a lot with her being able to pass them easier. A small bag lasted months and are apparently very yummy 😅
