Help, kitten pooing in sitting room

Aaaagh, our very very gorgeous six month old kitten has, for the second day in a row, poo'd in our sitting room (flagstone floor).

She has never done this before and up til this point has been perfectly house trained.

She is a super happy, confident cat. I don't think anything has spooked or unsettled her.

She has a covered litter tray in the utility room which she has always used up til this point (she is still weeing in it). I use World's Best Cat litter and remove everything daily, once or twice daily so it's always clean.

I've washed the floor with washing powder in hot water and used the wee spray stuff.

What should I do? Get a second covered tray and put it in that spot?

She does have access to outside but no cat flap. I don't think she knows to poo outside, she's always come back in to use the tray Hmm

What a cutie. If you catch her crouching can you quickly lift her into her tray. I wouldnt put a tray there, it will Just encourage her. Could you try an uncovered tray in the utility room so she has a choice.

I find putting down satsuma peels in their favourite spot as they hate the smell helps them not to repeat in the same place.
Other than that has anything upset them?
My kitten got very spooked the first time I hoovered the room with her litter tray and that caused pooing in a different place- just to let me know she was upset with it! I cleaned, sprayed but satsuma peels down and she went back to her tray

Put the litter tray where she is poohing and gradually move it back to where it should be for a start.

I did once have a cat that starting peeing on furniture, and we worked out that he didn’t like the lid on the litter tray. Once we took that off, he happily used it.

She is very cute!

Thank you for all the messages so far.

I'm really stuck with a covered tray though as I have two pugs too (she isn't scared of them at all. She is The Boss) and they will polish off any poo the moment she does it if they can get to it Envy

Can you stop her getting into the sitting room for a few days to get her out of the habit?

Get another tray too. I have several around the house, just make sure they aren’t in high traffic areas.

Ok have put lemon peel down (have no oranges but we're always g&t ready here, presume it may have the same effect).

Second litter tray on order too
