Can spaying cause this issue and if so, why?

My female Ragdoll was spayed 5 weeks ago. She's 8 months old

Since being spayed, she has been toileting on the carpet. Different places. Only ever a poo, never a wee.

Will also poo in the litter tray as well - there's no pattern at all but it's pretty much daily that it'll happen

Prior to being spayed, she had never once toileted anywhere but the tray

I took her to the vets on Friday as her poo was getting more and more liquid. They weren't concerned, received advice to slowly change her food over to a better quality one and she was given antibiotics as the vet could feel her tummy was 'gassy' but no concerns at this point

The only thing that's changed has been her being spayed. The vet said it can happen but gave no explanation as to why

Litter tray is always clean, scooped asap, she still uses it

But the regular pooing whether she fancies os driving me mad. I'm obviously cleaning thoroughly with the correct stuff and she's not returning to a specific spot anyway

She's well in herself and playful etc.

Any ideas please?

Please find a different vet. Giving antibiotics for a gassy tummy isn't normal.

There are usual two reasons a cat stops or is intermittent with using a litter tray. One is being prevented from using it by another cat, dog, child. Or pain. Since she's recently had an operation and her poos are no longer normal im saying pain. Go back.

Btw cats are incredibly good at masking pain as they are a prey animal, not just a predator. Dont be fooled by the play.
