Flea help

Our cat recently had a litter of 5 kittens - all of whom are healthy and thriving.
During the time of her pregnancy/birth/nursing I have held back on the parasite treatments.
As a result, we have now reached the stage where the flea situation needs addressing!!
Any recommendations… Has anyone tried the smoke bomb things for individual rooms?

Indorex spray, fantastic stuff.

Did the vet advise to stop treating her?
Are you using the flea treatment on her again?
How old are the kittens? Are you treating them for fleas and worms too?

@dementedpixie
The kittens are 5 weeks old - I think they have to weigh 1kg before you can treat them.
I intend to resume treatment on Mum as the kittens are beginning starting to wean.
I’m really after advice about the house as well.
Apologies - this is new territory for me.

Indorex for the house
Most flea treatments are suitable during pregnancy and weaning so shouldn't really have been stopped. Worming is also OK in pregnancy

@dementedpixie
Thank you - the treatment I have from the vet was a bit vague about whether it was safe to use while nursing.
Now the kittens are more robust, I feel more confident to use it.

Surely the best plan would be to get vet advice?

have the kittens/mum had a check? Ask the vet when they do.

unless there’s a vet or pro breeder on here most people aren’t going to know much about treating kittens.

I’d also check with the vet before treating mum or the house- even if they’re weaning they may groom or come into skin contact.

you should also be buying the treatment from the vet- they will prescribe safe meds in the right doses, for the particular flea issues in your area. Please don’t just buy the cheapest from wherever…

Yes - Mums medication is from the vet. Have read the enclosed leaflet and it said it hadn’t been fully tested on nursing cats/kittens.
I have had Mum since she was 8 weeks old and the vet told me that she needed to be 1 kg before she could be treated.
