Cat flap in wall - heat loss

My kitten is waking me up at 5am every morning and it's driving me crazy. 3 babies grown and I thought I was on for a full night sleep.

Number one job is a cat flap. Needs to be in wall. We have a lovely builder friend who can install and cost isn't really an issue.

But. Heat loss? Obviously energy bills are a consideration and husband is concerned about house getting cold. Not me with my oerimenopausal internal radiator.

Any experience or advice?

We have one in the wall. No draughts, it's fine.

It's a tunnel style and the flap is on the indoor end of the aperture. Don't know if that makes any difference.

I have one. Not noticed any heat loss.

Well of course there will be heat loss. That’s inevitable. But draughts are much worse. Make sure it isn’t on a windy wall, and get one of the ones that locks (to stop other cats coming in, but will also reduce draughts)

I had one and didn't notice any draft - I don't know if this might just be standard, but we put a cat flap at both ends to help mitigate any chill. - Catts were quickly used to it after shoving them through a couple of times/planting a few dreamies along the tunnel.

Oh yes out outside one was a microchip activated one, so it didn't flap about in the wind.

We occasionally get a draft if it wedges open after the cat has come through but otherwise no issue at all.
