Damaged or disjointed tail?

Just got back from holiday, Dcat was looked after by a neighbour who had no problems - Dcat hid a bit because of the heat but ate every meal, when she did come and see neighbour acted fine, no blood, no yowling or anything.

Stroking her this eve and she yelped whenever I went near the joint of her tail, and watching her, it looks…. A bit wonky? I think she may have pulled it somehow, either it’s swollen or she’s pulled it out and popped it back in. No other injuries or any blood.

The thing is, she’s absolutely fine! She’s walking, sitting, curling up, even cleaning her underneath fine. She’s eating and drinking and coming for cuddles and showing no sign at all that she is in pain or distress.

I had a quick Google and it seemed mixed on whether she needs the vet or not. Should I? I imagine they can’t splint a tail! But we’ve never had a cat with this kind of injury before, so I wanted to check what others would do.

I should add there’s no sign that she’s having trouble peeing either

This has happened to 2 of my cats when we've been away on holiday and they've been looked after by someone! Never had anything like it when we're home.

Both were checked by the vet. One was years ago and think she just had an anti-inflammatory injection. There was no obvious cause or injury.

The more recent experience, the vet felt the base of her tail and there was some sort of bruising. We think she might have jumped and fallen to land on it. She had no feeling at all in her tail until he got to the base. he told us worse case scenario, she'd have to have it amputated. She had an anti-inflammatory injection and tablets, plus painkillers for a week and it sorted it.

I'd definitely get it checked.
