Cat related personal injuries

There was a dog one so I thought a cat one would be needed too.

Of course all cat owners get scratched and what not but have you ever had a really bizarre one?

Mine was when I was still in secondary school, and my cat was laid on the computer table whilst I was on the computer. She rolled a little bit too far and fell off. In her panic though, she grabbed the first thing she could get her claws into, which just so happened to be my leg.

I had 4 brilliant scratches starting from the top of my knee right down to below.

Still got the scars now

I used to dye the front of my hair bright pink, blue etc and my cat at the time decided to have a sniff at the dye in my hair. Obviously didn't like it so smacked me in the face, clawing at the inner corner of my eye and giving me a huge purple shiner!!

Whilst holding my cat (she was a real baby) I tried to put an open tin of chopped tomatoes in the fridge.

She reached out and grabbed the tin drenching me, her and most of the kitchen in tomatoes and juice. That was fun to clear up.

She also scratched the inside of my arm when the doorbell rang and the dog barked. I have a lovely two inch scar from that and it's been 30 years!

One of my cats used to like sitting on the edge of the bath when I was in it. One day she lost her balance, landed on me and clawed her way out of the tub using me as a springboard. ouch is an understatement.

2” keloid scar from rescuing a mouse. He got the mouse anyway.

Cats are so loving aren’t they. Pity they come with scar rendering claws.

Not me but my son, our cat( nerve issues from falling out of a tree and breaking both hips) fell off the curtain on to DS2 arm and but and scratched him on the web between his thumb and index finger. We went on holiday the next day so couldn't get medical help. By the evening it was starting to swell but DS2 said it didn't hurt and he just wanted to go swimming. 2 days later all infection had gone and you could barely see the injuries.

Earlier this year when my cat scratched my nose during a work Zoom meeting (she had been on my lap and I had annoyed her somehow). "Sorry, I've had to turn my camera off as I'm bleeding copiously."

I currently have several claw puncture marks on my leg. My cat dislikes having the spot on flea treatment done. DH had been holding her down on the kitchen floor while I applied it and she expressed her displeasure on my leg before running away in a huff through the cat door.

Skirmish on the bed at like 2am. When I sat up, one if them ran full pelt into my face and I had a belter of a black eye and a burst nose!

Sorry this is quite funny though. You poor thing walking around like a da victim.

Cat exploring at night, decided that trying to balance on the metal pole, that formed the headboard was a brilliant idea. My face didn’t think so, when the full weight of her landed on it… with claws out.
Good job for a long fringe.

Soubriquet · 08/08/2022 19:37

Wish me luck. Won’t be doing it tonight but at some point I need to pin my furry fucker down and trim her knicker hair.

She hates having it done but she has klingons

When I took my cats for their jabs last year the vet was only letting one person in (covid protocol) so my husband waited in the car park. He then made a brilliant wtf face as I emerged with two cat carriers and a forearm bandaged with a pink pet bandage with little paw prints on it. My cats are very gentle and never scratch in anger but one was desperate to try to scrabble away from the vet and kicked off with her claws in my inner wrist. It wouldn't stop bleeding and I was dripping in the surgery so the vet patched me up before dealing with the kitties😄. It is known as "the day I had a hurty paw"😄.

My Nan's last cat. Nan lived until she was 101, far beyond all of her friends. From around the age of 80, when her then cat died, she would go to the rescue to get another one but usually a middle aged/elderly feline due to her late age. Nan kept outliving them.

The last one was a huge black cat that could pass for a panther. He hated every human apart from nan. A few people had to get medical treatment for scratches administered just visiting the house (his territory) and walking past where ever he chose to sit. He went properly feral and would not let go- some wounds inflicted became infected. He adored nan though (and she popped to the butcher/fish monger every day to ensure he was properly fed).

At one point this panther developed an abscess on his jaw and had to go to the vet. I remember it well because the poor vet ended up practically wearing full body armour to deal with this cat. He then asked my (very feisty grandmother) if 'madam felt she could deal with this cat'? I think she was probably more terrifying in her response than the panther. 😁

When my cat was a kitten I woke one night to find a small paw on my left eyelid. As soon as my eyelid moved, the tiny, needle-like claws dug in, but then relaxed. We stayed like that, with the paw on my eye and me not moving a muscle while the kitten stared at me and purred and occasionally flexed her claws. She finally walked over my face to the pillow and fell asleep in my hair. Luckily her claws hadn't cut me.

Same cat had to be sedated for her last vet visit. I took her on a Wednesday and the vet plus three assistants were broken people by the end of half an hour. The vet gave me some gabapentin and we returned the next day. She still gave them all a run for their money.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/08/2022 09:21

Some animals are born to run free, mathanxiety cat is one of them.

Top catting that is.
