Frequent vomiting

My 3 yo long-haired rescue cat that detests brushing has always been prone to hairballs and bringing them up. This spring she got one stuck in her intestine and had to have surgery to remove it. She recovered well and is back to normal weight and habits. However it seems that ever since the surgery her vomiting has become even more frequent. Sometimes there is a hairball but often there isn't. I have been back to the vets with her a couple of times but they can't find anything wrong with her. She was sick again yesterday and off her food but is back to normal today.

I keep thinking I should take her back to the vet, especially as again last night there was no hairball. The vet visits are very stressful for her and she actually has to be sedated beforehand as she otherwise won't let the vet near her. I am therefore reluctant to go there just to be told she seems fine and to be given some katalax.

Is there anything I should ask or push for when I take her in? Blood tests? Could she be sensitive to some foods?

She eats hairball dry food and one pouch a day of whiskas/felix. I also have got one of those raised bowls for her which I heard should help.

Any suggestions?

Malt paste might help, it eases the hair balls through their systems.

Does she eat too quickly? What about a slow feeder?

Thanks both.
Yes she does tend to gobble up her food. I already have a slow feeding bowl for her wet food but I might get one for the dry food as well. But not convinced it's just that as sometimes the vomit is just liquid or mucus-like ie. doesn't always have undigested food bits in it.
She prefers to do it on our downstairs carpet which is slowly getting ruined! 😐

Our long haired moggy vomits fur balls as well, also on the lounge carpet. We alternate her food with wet in the morning and dry hair ball reducing food in the evening. While it's not stopped her completely being sick, it's definitely lessened the incidences.

What is it about carpets and vomiting? We have hard floors in our kitchen and dining room yet she always chooses to be sick on the carpeted area.😩

Does she have access to food 24/7?

In dogs, liquid or bile vomit is often (not always, but often) caused by hunger.
