I’m not sure if I should be worried about my cat, he’s become increasingly more verbal and affectionate. He appears healthy (is a big ginger Tom), eating, drinking and pooping fine, still hunts. Last night he kept crawling on top of me in bed and rubbing against me being over affectionate, every time I moved away from him he meowed at me until I touched him again, he refused to settle unless touching me. His usually routine is to sleep most of the day and then go out at night but occasionally he will stay in at night and sleep on my bed. He has always been affectionate but rarely sleeps on my and rarely gets on my lap, he usually has a bit of a cuddle and then sleeps on the bottom of the bed.

He is 11/12 years old, is he starting to lose his marbles a bit? Could he be unwell? Could I be unwell and he senses it?

Our late cat got very affectionate as he got older. He was never a lap cat, then he was there as soon as you sat down.

Our late girl cat would merely tolerate our presence in 'her' house, never ever cuddled and frequently sat as far away as she could (although always in the same room as us) facing a wall... until one summer she started sitting on my husband's lap - long story short he had testicular cancer. As soon as he had the tumour removed she went straight back to her disdainful self again! When my husband went for his initial check, the doctor said they get a number of cases where people are alerted to health conditions by their pets.

This is what’s at the back of my mind, maybe he can sense somethings wrong?
i wouldn’t say he isn’t affectionate, he’s always been super friendly but not this friendly and not this verbal. He’s now asleep on DD’s bed and wants nothing to do with me but come 6pm ish he will start getting really close, meowing and trying to get into my lap.
