The litter tray

I can't, but I so wish I could!

Had to share this pic I received today of the most beautiful kittens I've seen in a while. A friend from here sent me it asking if I wanted to adopt one, or even two. I do already have a gorgeous boy who is very good with other cats, but we just aren't in a position to take on any more at the moment as we already support our local feral cat group and funds won't stretch that far sadly.

I'm not looking for adopters for them as I'm sure the majority here are UK based, and we are in Spain. But, since they are so fabulous and utterly adorable I thought I would share a pic.

I'm sure I will be wistfully thinking of these little darlings for a good while and wondering what if...

Any others here have stories of the ones you had to walk away from even though you would have loved to bring them home?

I can't, but I so wish I could!

They are beautiful ❤️

And, oh yes, I occasionally wonder what happened to the elderly blind, earless and very clearly feisty tortie who caught my eye when I adopted my last cat. She wasn't suitable for us at all, but I bet she brought a lot of fun to whoever adopted her.

I also wonder what happened to my latest rescue's 2 kittens who were nearly 6mo when they were picked up. Mine was a semi-feral stray but sadly her 2 kittens were already feral and needed a different sort of home.

Oh I have a soft spot for the injured ones too 😍

I still think about a 3 legged cat (who was also missing his tail and most of 1 ear - car accident 😪) that was up for adoption back in the UK just before we were due to move here. I just hope he found a forever home!

Aww ❤️

My local RSPCA centre is predominately a wildlife centre, and mostly only has the more 'tricky' pets that need extra care, rehab and from legal cases. They were all tempting me!

Back when I lived in London I wanted to have a cat, so I went to visit a rescue centre. It was rather like a cattery, and they allowed you to wander through, looking at the cats. They would let you into any 'cage' to approach the cats. So I went into one which had two cats, a very brown tabby and a black-with-white, curled up in a heap on a shelf at chest height. As soon as I was close to them the tabby climbed into my arms and into my heart. The black cat was a little more aloof, but within minutes it, too, was rubbing its head on my shoulder. Total and utter love at first sight.

So I went to fill out the forms. I was rejected because I lived in a flat. They would not even keep me on their list in case an indoor cat came in. No. They did not accept flat-dwellers.

Sad

I reassure myself that such gorgeous cats would have found new homes very quickly. But FGS, no flat-dwellers? In London? Hmm

@Dilbertian I feel your pain 😥I know a lot of cats if they are used to being outdoors a lot, don't take well to living in flats with limited access to the outside. But surely there must be those that are older, or that have always been indoor cats, that would be suitable? I think sometimes rehoming and adoption rules are a bit over the top. But I'm not an expert on it, just an adoring cat owner.

I regularly find kittens most years and pass them on to rescues. Until last year I had a very cat aggressive dog so I could never keep them but always Thought of all those lovely little kittens and hoped they went to special homes
