Taking kittens to the vet - one carrier or two??

Kittens are now 13 weeks old, when we took them home from the shelter at 10 weeks they fit nicely into one carrier, no issues.

Even in the few weeks we have them, i think the one carrier will be a bit snug, and im taking them to the vet for their second vaccine dose tomorrow.

We have two carriers so we have the space for one each, but i worry that it might be scarier for them if they are in the carrier without their sibling?? They play fight a lot but regularly sleep curled up together so think they would appreciate the company.

Whats best, two in one carrier and not have much room, or one in each carrier but the might get scared?

If you can get them in one carrier, go for it.

One carrier will be fine at that age.

Aw I'm glad you've said that, i was leaning towards putting them together, but worried that the vet would judge me when they arrived in one carrier!

I've had the carrier out today and they both gone in for a little sit down at various points today, i think they'll both fit but it'll be snug. But i suppose thats ok cos too much space can make them feel unsafe as well i think?

I'm so pfb about my kitties 😹

Ours are litter mates. They are still happy crammed into the same carrier at nearly three! Hysterical yowling in separate ones, even facing each other and doused in feliway.

Ours are litter mates as well, brother and sister. As much as they play fight a lot, they also sit for hours grooming eachother and regularly sleep curled up like a yin yang symbol. Think they will be less stressed if they know they have eachother. They dont even like being in different rooms to each other!

Together def best
The vet won't care either way
As a vet the only thing I judge carriers for is when people bring rabbits or Guinea pigs in one full of hay and shavings then proceed to drag said hay and shavings all other the floor
I get very judgey about that but nothing else Smile

We've always had litter mates. They can see out of the front of our carriers, so I've always put them on back seat facing each other.

Suspect you’ve already been & gone (was going to agree with same carrier but suggest you take second/spare with you too if easy Just In Case) so will just say I hope it all went well.

Well, that & as the owner of littermate halfbrothers who still, at the ripe old age of 10, like to sleep in that yin-yang shape: please pay the Kitten Tax asap!

How far away is your vets?! Assuming it's just a quick trip, they'll be just fine. Aren't cats famous for squashing themselves into tiny spaces where they don't fit properly?

I ended up going with two carriers...!

I had the one out during the day so they could get used to it, and they were going in at various points but never at the same time, and when i encouraged them both to go in they wouldnt, so decided that they didnt have enough space.

Did what a PP mentioned and put them facing eachother and they cried a bit, but were generally ok.

But after all that, the vet didnt have the right vaccine type so re-booked in for Monday...!
