And it's driving me mad being woken up at 4am every morning. They are so loud ! Our cat is just turned 3 and has always gone outside, he never really goes far just sticks to his own territory. I know I'm biased but he's soft as anything.
The last few weeks another cat has appeared on the scene, I struggle to work out if he's a stray or not because he looks abit unkempt. A few times now this cat has chased and attacked my cat to the point my cat has poo'ed himself a couple of times, he does try and defend himself though by hissing and not backing away. He has tufts of hair sticking out where he's been attacked. He is a very anxious cat as it is and I'm worried he's going to start spraying etc in the house from stress.

This morning I was woken up yet again by the noise and found them both on the fence, my cat hissing and warning the other cat who was just staring at him not moving off. Eventually he ran away when I opened the back door. My cat is neutered btw, not sure about this one?

I just don't know what to do really. I can't find the owner of the cat because by the time we're up he's nowhere to be seen! I never see him in the daytime only ever 4am ish.

Has anyone had anything simliar ? I really don't want to keep him in as he loves going out and has done since he was about 8 months old and neutered and anyway it wouldn't be possible too now he'd go crazy to get out

Thanks

Can you keep him in overnight? I've found it's safer for them, especially if there is an aggressive cat in the area.

Other than that, keep alert for the cat in the day and use a water gun.

He's beautiful. I'd keep him in until gone 4am for a few nights just to break the habit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/07/2022 19:48

I’d keep him in overnight so their paths cannot cross.

Keep him in at night. It's what's advised anyway as it's much safer for them to be indoors while it's dark - for precisely this reason!

DowntonCrabby · 15/07/2022 20:40

We’ve always kept ours in overnight, I hear cats screaming at night and it’s horrible to think what they may be going through.

He’s just gorgeous OP, what a squishy wee face!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/07/2022 20:43

If he was mine he’d be snuggled in bed with me at 4am. He’s gorgeous and looks like a right softy!

Chemenger · 15/07/2022 20:45

I would keep him in overnight. He’ll get used to it.
