How to keep a cat cool?

Our flat is very warm, 30 degrees during the day. Our boy is 5.6kg and fluffy, he's an indoor cat, and seems quite sick of the weather. He's been lying on the floor a lot to keep cool.

Is there anything we should be doing to keep him more comfortable? Can it be dangerous for cats?

Plenty of water, lots of shade, a cooling mat and maybe, if you're feeling up to the challenge, a trip to the groomer for a summer cut

Mine is a Persian so very fluffy. He gets a summer haircut (short clip on belly) and loves to sit next to the fan.

My poor fluffy cat stretches out on the tiled bathroom floor just inside the door, and moves for no-one.

She keeps activity to a minimum on the many hot and humid days and nights we have in the American Midwest in summer. She mistimed her moulting this year (she's a Siberian) thanks to a cool and damp spring. She hates a fan - the wind on her fur freaks her out - but appreciates the AC.

As long as they have plenty of fresh water cats are fine in the heat.

Mine came from a country where the temperatures are usually mid to high thirties in the summer. Cats seem to thrive in in it.

Yes this!

I went one further and put in the freezer to make little kitty ice lollies. She had about three licks of it, then left it to melt and warm up again before eating the rest 🙄

Leave them be. Whatever you try they will look at you in disgust.
plenty of available water and cool spots, but leave them be.

Our cat is doing a lot of flopping too. Mostly on the hard floors, but on the beds, on the lawn in the shade, anywhere. Gets up, moves somewhere else and flops down again.
