Best way to get a cat back inside.

I have indoor cats as we live on a busy road and cats die on there way too often for my liking.

My youngest boy slipped out of a window on Tuesday night - I've seen him around and he's eaten the food I've left out but he won't near me or DH.

I suspect he's just enjoying being out but what's the best way to get him back in? He's on medication so I'm hoping he's not out much longer than this - he's not injured and seems perfectly happy to just eat, ignore us and run off Grin

He's two and he's neutered so I'm not worried about any kittens!

One of my three indoor cats did this and after a couple of days of doing everything I could I decided to stop bothering. That night she was sat on the front doorstep howling and shot inside as soon as I opened it

think she likes the mind games!

Ha, I love this - they are such contrary buggers Grin

He was on the doorstep the other night but shot off when DH opened the door 🙄

Could you cat proof the garden? You can diy it. Obv need him to come in first.

He's telling you loud and clear that he doesn't want to be an indoor cat.

This. Also the weather is very warm in the UK at the moment. My cats have all always preferred the outdoors whether it's warm and dry. One of them used to come home, buzz round the sitting room, jump on my lap to say 'hi' and bugger off out again for three days.

He's home!!

I went out about half an hour calling him and shaking dreamies - was just about to get up when I heard him yelling from next doors shed. He came close then ran and hid again - so DH had to come and pull him out from under a pile of junk Grin

He's dusty (the cat, not DH!) and wolfed down some food and now he's purring on my lap.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! 🥰

Glad he's home OP.

It's too hot for our two semi long-haired lads. One is in his igloo under the fan, the other is on the landing with a fan blowing on him. He keeps coming down to shout loudly in our faces (probably saying IT'S TOO HOT) then going back up. We've put bowls of water with ice in everywhere for them.
