My cat is dribbling - any ideas?

She has been to the vet. When I noticed that she was dribbling yesterday we went to the emergency vet. They couldn’t find much except slightly inflamed tonsils and a slight temperature (40°c) and gave her a dose of metacam. She is 100% fine in herself, eating, playing and she’s generally not a cat that hides illness well. I always go to worst case scenario and am worried that the jab didn’t help, has anyone got any experiences of this?

Extra info for reference: she is an indoor cat with a catio. No living plants in or outside except for a few weeds, but I couldn’t find any evidence that she’d eaten anything. Nothing has changed in terms of products we use and I am very cautious in that I only use non toxic cleaning supplies and keep them away if we’re using anything else like hairspray, perfume etc. No food changes, no routine changes, no obvious stressors. Im baffled!

I’ll add a pic of the little devil for cat tax Smile

My parents had a Siamese. He would dribble when he was happy.

Our male Persian would do that too, then he’d shake his head like a dog. Gross.

Ah I’m so sorry @SameToo, it’s so upsetting when things like that happen. I am keeping a close eye on her but she’s totally back to normal today. Will be tracking symptoms just in case.

Thanks @007DoubleOSeven smile. She’s only just coming up to 5 but I will keep that in mind!

@wheresmyshoe thank you! I agree of course. She is a Thai lilac point, one of only a few in the UK! They are a colour mutation of the Korat breed. Usually mistaken for a Siamese or Tonkinese!

Thank you everyone for the reassurances about what might be normal dribbling!

Was all okay in the end op? My 10 month old kitten has randomly started dribbling today, vets said to keep an eye and bring her in if she starts showing any other symptoms

Hi @Leeds157, sorry to hear your cat has the same thing. She is fine now and it hasn’t happened again since, they thought it was her temperature. Hope you can get your little one sorted
