… to stop them coming into our garden? Nothing against cats but we have a dog that chases cats (only in the garden) and I’m so worried he’ll get one one day . Everyone says hose pipe but is this v cruel? Does it work ? It’s a recent problem as I think they have arrived with new neighbours. Two of them , very sweet, quite little so maybe only kittens.

any ideas very welcome.

As a cat owner I would be very grateful. Rather a grumpy wet cat than a dead cat.

I've heard it said, about dogs, not cats, never to use something so essential to life as a punishment.

You don't want an animal to be afraid of water as it needs it to live.

I dislike cats and find them a nuisance.

Spray the cats, it’s better than being attacked by a dog. 😥

Don’t worry it’s ok for cats. I have used spray training myself with a mist bottle and my cats a very good drinker and loves water.

As with all cats it’s got to be on his terms. So he doesn’t like getting wet when he’s not expecting it.

As long as OP dissipates it a bit by shaking the hose head back and forth so it’s not a direct forceful jet then it’s going to do no harm at all.
