Really awful cat terrorising my cat.

There are quite a lot of cats around here. The usual battles for top-cat status happen, a bit of growling and loud meowing etc. All normal.

But there is a Siamese-type cat about 8 doors down that completely has it in for mine. He hangs around outside waiting for him. He'll chase him and try and fight him. This morning he had a physical fight with mine, scratching and biting. He's bloody tenacious too. We've squirted waterway him, chucked tennis balls at him. DH ended up hitting him with a stick one day as he wouldn't get off our cat.

Our poor boy has spent all day looking nervous and forlorn. He likes to spend the day going in and out, but this is ruining that for him.

Ours was here first, btw, if that makes any difference.

Is there anything we can do? It's a huge cliche but we don't want to speak to the owners as they themselves are quite intimidating and have been know to cause trouble on the street. Like owners like pet Confused!

You have to let them sort it out themselves, I know it’s hard but eventually your cat will learn to avoid this one. They can share territory at different times but one has to agree to be the submissive one. Sounds like that will be your cat.

I think my cat is fine to be the submissive one. But the other cat just goes for him when mine is just minding his own business, and then chases him when he tries to run away Sad
But I guess you're right, I need to leave them to it. I hope the horrible one just gets bored soon or moves on to another target!

Unless you're going to keep your cat indoors or cat-proof your garden so he has that to himself as his "space", there's not much you can do about it.

Though please don't chuck tennis balls at the cat or hit it - you could really hurt it if you caught it in the wrong place.

Our boy had similar with a neighbours cat. It seemed to delight in tormenting him by peering in the windows and sitting in our garden waiting to pounce. Our boy just learnt to keep out of the way.

We got a rescue kitten about a year ago and he is nowhere near as placid as our older boy and decided he wasn't putting up with it! That was a few months ago and the tormentor hasn't got close since.

Basically our massive 9 year old boy and the kitten he barely tolerates formed a gang!!

Nothing you can do about it! Luckily we don’t have that problem the only way to remedy that is keeping your cat either indoors or outdoor catio but would be quite difficult if he has always been a free roamer
