Cat aggression help

Hi 👋

looking for some advice please. I have three cats, two house cats and one cat that comes and goes as he pleases. Our outside cat is a large male and our house cats are female.

The male has always been a bit of a bully to one of our female cats, she has never really fought back other than hissing at him. Last night this changed she attacked him out of the blue and it definitely put him in his place. Today this happened again, she chased him under the bed and after I closed the door she spent 5 minutes trying to get into the room. This evening she has had him backed into the corner of the room three times, everytime I have separated them and he is quite clearly now wary of her.

FWIW There are no resourcing issues and we feed them separately. We are definitely overcrowded in the house (we are in the process of moving to a larger house). We provide our cats with plenty of love and stimulation, especially the females cats as they are indoor only. The female cat who has turned aggressive has been having some skin issues over the last few years, she has cuts and scabs all over her face and body, the vets think it’s dermatitis however I’m now wondering if there’s something more going on and the aggression is a symptom.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has any advice to offer please. It may also be worth mentioning the ages, the female is 8 and the male is 11.

Thanks for reading :)

My tiny female occasionally snaps and leathers the two larger boys. Maybe once a month theres a barney and one of them is under the bed/on the bookshelf/in the toilet ( ?) having a stand off.
id call your vet and follow up with your Derm consuly- could be shes right uncomfortable now?

thank you, I think she could be uncomfortable and has had enough of taking a beating from him. I will take her back to the vets as the more I think about it, her behaviour has changed in recent weeks. Thanks again
