Cat always attacks DH when we get back from holiday

Had a lovely trip , booked a pet sitter apparently he was fine while we were away had regular pictures of him , he's been fed and watered. He's always a bit strange when we get back , one time he had pooed in the hallway just before we got back. The last two times he's attacked my DH no prior warning no growling hissing he jumped and latched his jaws around his leg and claws. He doesn't do this normally and never attacks me and DD. What's his problem ?

He’s upset and scared at being left alone. No idea why your husband has to bear the brunt of the punishment. Is the cat particularly close to you and your DD? How often does this happen?

Is the pet sitter a man? A professional? A teenager with boyfriend in tow?

He hasn't seen you in a while and you all come back smelling different and probably acting differently too, with lots of heavy luggage etc.

As to why his stress/frustration/excitement gets taken out on DH - who knows. Have you had the cat from a kitten? Has he never had negative experiences with men?Is your cat sitter male and could something unpleasant be going on while you're not around (as horrible as that is to think about?)

It could be that the cat isn't coping with being left alone as well as you think and that he would be better in a cattery or with a live-in cat sitter so he has more company.

Try a cattery. The one my dn uses is nicer than my first flat.

A woman a professional pet sitter in her 60s I have no concerns about her. He hates other cats so wouldn't cope in a cattery.

@Felix0204 are you the OP under a different name?

A good cattery will be able to put your cat in its own kennel/space so he will never see or interact with any other cats during his time there.

His behaviour (toileting on the floor and attacking your DH) says to me he's probably not coping alone as well as you think he is.

Could your pet-sitter stay in your home overnight so he has more company? You'd have to pay a little more - I charge £35 a night for that service, but it might give you a bit more peace of mind and some reassurance that he has a bit more fuss and attention.

Yes I name changed, I will look at him boarding in a cattery as long as he wouldn't see or hear other cats or I might ask to increase the visits. Almost £500 for a fortnight would be too much money and I wouldn't want someone staying over in my home.
