Recommend an inexpensive good cat tower

I’d like my kitten to have something to climb on, but am on a low budget. There are plenty on Amazon but very mixed reviews. I don’t want to really spend more than £50. Is that unrealistic? It needs to be sturdy enough for an adult cat that weighs 4.5 kg as well. I don’t care about the colour. Just something they can have fun on. I live in rented accommodation, so can’t fix it to the wall.

Have a look on zooplus

Imherenowandthen · 15/04/2022 22:12

I’ve looked but they’re quite expensive.

I got mine from zooplus. It was a few years ago but its still going strong. She absolutely adores snoozing in the top donut. Its slightly more expensive than what you are wanting to spend but it has probably worked out to be £10 per year of use. Mine is also in the large section, you might not want one as tall. They do seem to have regular sales. Its showing as black but I bought the light grey one.

I got one from Amazon for about £50.

Imherenowandthen · 15/04/2022 22:56

Thanks. I was hoping for taller than the Amazon one. The zooplus one is perfect, but a bit too expensive, and I can’t find a money off voucher.

This seems to have good reviews on zooplus

Thanks. The Amazon one isn’t very high, but I’ll look at the zooplus one.

Nothing useful to add except I misunderstood your thread title as saying tower as in tow-er and you were looking for something you could tow your cat in... Blush it’s late...

Cat barrel from Zooplus, had our first one 10 years, 2 large cats and still good enough to pass on!

Forestfan24 · 16/04/2022 00:01

I got mine from wayfair, they have many around the £40-50 price off different heights and I have no complaints with the one I have

I forked out a fair amount over 10 years ago for a decent cat tower. Not much interest shown in all the available spots, apart from the “cave” at the top.

MUCH more popular has been an extra large scratching barrel. My surviving boy loves it, gets used all the time. Will try to find a link.

Furries · 16/04/2022 01:23

Pretty much this one - they are really sturdy. Have mine in front of spare bedroom window, so his lordship can snooze in the sun or watch the world go by.

I got one half price from PetsAtHome. I paid £35

Sometimes Aldi or Lidl have them, but can't remember how much they were.

It's absolutely fine for our three cats - our largest is 9kg and the smallest is 2kg and they all fit on there no problems.

No, it's not massively tall but if you want extra height and good quality you'll have to pay for it unfortunately.

We had a cheaper, taller one once and it collapsed underneath our fat one Grin

I searched high and low for decent cat tree for my kittens 2 years ago and got one for £19.99 from the range, still going strong! They seem to have the best prices and still have great ones available around the £30-35 mark

Yes it’s weighing up cheap and fit for purpose!
Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look at The Range too.

We’ve got this - a double heighted scratch post (from Pets at home, I think). The most used cat purchase in the house by a long way. Especially as we spray cat nip on every so often. Definitely under £50. We’ve bought all sorts in the past and never used… they’d rather sleep on top of the bookcase! So we just get a couple of these and replace when they fall apart after a few years.

Definitely, it's getting that balance.

It was amusing when said fat cat came tumbling to the ground with a very shocked look on his face though Grin

Floralnomad · 16/04/2022 12:46

We’ve got the one linked to by @Datsandcogs and it’s very sturdy .

Imherenowandthen · 16/04/2022 12:48

I want them to be able to climb around and play on it, I doubt they’d sleep in the bed really.
