Rag doll Meowing all the time!

My rag doll cat meows all day. Unless she's asleep or sitting on someone. It's driving me crazy. She also constantly brings things from upstairs and meows really loudly every time she delivers something! Any tips on how to quieten her down??

Aww, she's just talking to you and bringing you gifts - bless her. She could be happy and just chatting to you or could be upset and telling you. Cats only meow to communicate with humans and many don't bother so you are lucky.

My cat used to talk all day, she passed recently and I'd give anything to hear her giving me what for again.

I have a noisy cat, then only way to quieten her is to do exactly what she wants me to do...

They are noisy. Does she want to play fetch, mine is a master

Trinacham · 10/04/2022 12:53

Ragdolls like to meow. I think mine have possibly gotten quieter as they've got older (6 and 7). Is she an indoor Ragdoll? Does she have plenty of toys, a cat tree, scratching post?

0atie · 10/04/2022 13:00

She goes outside, she has plenty of things to do and a scratcher. Perhaps I'll just have to put up with it, she's just chatty! Every time she comes in she announces herself Grin

She won't play fetch!

Just leaves stuff everywhere! Like 10 items a day

My ragdoll never shuts up. I think you just need to get used to it!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/04/2022 14:16

My Persian is similar. She doesn't have an unspoken thought in her head. We have proper conversations!

My Siamese shouted a lot for the 17 years of his life.
When younger he loved playing fetch.

Yes, exactly right!
Chewbecca · 12/04/2022 17:31

I have full conversations with my half siamese puss. She doesn't stop shouting until you answer her and have a little chat. Often sits in the hall and just calls out to see where everyone is, save her bothering to find us. Once she has found someone warm, still and soft, she does settle down.
I love it!

My ragdoll is quite vocal. She likes to know where we are and what we are doing at any time she decides she needs to know. Even if she’s been out and we are in exactly the same place she left us, she meows to find us🥰

I’ve had to wfh this week and both days at lunchtime, she’s got very vocal and fed up of mum being in meetings. She settles after an hour but until then I get head-buts, her jumping on my laptop and meowing.

She’s an adorable fluff ball🥰🤗

Yoyokitten · 13/04/2022 08:53

Ohh, I would love this! My rescued street cat is almost totally silent. He probably miaows about twice a year, and that's only when he's complaining about something.
Just enjoy and chat back Grin

AnyCakeButBattenburg · 13/04/2022 08:57

Bless her, she's talking to you. My old boy meows a lot - when he comes in/goes out, when he wants something, particularly when he wants to sit on my lap because he's cold - I had to sit cuddling him for 40 minutes earlier - and now he's warm enough, he's gone to sleep on a cushion Grin

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 13/04/2022 17:04

My youngest black kitten loves to shout at me Grin

Normally he wants food or for me to open the baby gate so he doesn't have to jump over, but sometimes it's just for attention or well, because he can, lol.

"You ain't nothing but a Ragdoll, crying all the time", with apologies to "Hound dog" by Elvis. Grin

Sorry OP I have no practical advice other than talking back to her. We have a cat who demands attention at the most inappropriate moments too. We can't seem to bank any attention credit with him the way we can with our other cats. We can talk or play with the other cats for a bit and then they go about their day, happy with the interaction. With him, he's always on, he can never get enough company or attention. It gets very frustrating when your hands are full and he's sticking a claw in my shin and wailing because he wants me to something with him instead.
