Stray cat / SSPCA help.

Hi everyone, I really hope someone can tell me some hopeful news.

There has been a stray cat roaming about our area for months, I’m not sure of how long but definitely since last year. I originally thought someone in the street owned him/her but they don’t. This poor wee cat has injuries from what is assumed to from another animal attacking it. A few days ago, I discovered that a woman who lives in my street had been feeding the cat and letting the cat sleep in her house as she was scared it would be attacked again. She had been trying to treat its wounds herself but knew that it needed vets attention. So, I phoned the SSPCA for her and they came out to uplift this wee cat and she was both glad and so upset to let the wee cat go. It’s currently with SSPCA getting treatment but my neighbour would love to rehome this cat officially as she and her other 2 cats love him. I’ve spoke to the SSPCA and they said that they don’t rehome a cat track to the area it was picked up.

Has anyone got any advice for her ? Or any help really.

Thank

She needs to call them herself really, otherwise she won't sound serious about adopting the cat.
Can she really afford another cat? You really can't treat bite wounds and suchlike at home, due to the bacteria in the mouth they need to be treated with antibiotics.

I’ll get her to call. She can afford another cat no problem. I called the SSPCA and the vet has given him painkillers and antibiotics so hopefully the wee lamb will feel better soon and be ready to be rehomed. Thanks

The SSPCA are atrocious. I work in a vets and rehomed a cat from them previously and I only got him because he has numerous health issues. They wouldn't let me adopt again because my cats only get access to a secure garden......apparently I don't enrich their lives enough by letting them roam. Apparently also they rarely get housecats in for rehoming. Their excuse to your neighbour is bullshit, I know for a fact they rehome cats to the people who have taken in the stray.

That sounds suspect to me. Never heard such a load of excuses bollocks. Honestly, they get a genuine adopter and that's how they react.

I do wonder why, as an experienced cat owner, she didn't take it to the vet to be treated?

Want2. I know, I was the same. She’s an older lady and got the vet to give her antibiotic cream which she was applying. I think she got worked up and confused. She felt helpless I think.

Lido, that’s a nightmare ! I really hope they rehome to her, she already has 2 lovely cats and she loves this wee guy too and her cats love him.

I’m going to keep on to them to see how he’s doing and to try and convince them .

Thanks for all your help 😊
