Kitten pooped on duvet!

Please help!

My darling baby Siamese got shut in my bedroom by my husband this afternoon.

The result was lots of wee and poop on my new ted baker duvet cover.. put on last night. 😫

Has soaked through to my down duvet too

Any ideas on how to launder these things or should I dispose of and replace?

Thanks in advance

If your washing machine is big enough just pop the duvet in there, if it's not take it to a laundromat and they'll do it. Quite a lot of petrol stations seem to be installing big capacity machines so even look around locally.

Oh my god this happened with our 11 year old girl the other week. Felt so guilty! Managed to shove the whole duvet in the washing machine and then washed the cover and sheet separately.

Thank you for that suggestion Nellie. 😊

Thanks cheesechips... I was so upset about the poor kitten being trapped and crying to get out. 😢

I hand wash my duvet in the bath.

Thanks Obira that's another good option.

Bear in mind that hand washing in the bath - you still have to be able to rinse it, get the water out. It will need a spin or a good day or so to drip dry, depending on what the filling is. How big is the duvet and what size washing machine do you have?

It's a king size duvet and an 8kg washing machine shmitcat.

My old one was bigger.

Not sure this one will be big enough?

My duvet just goes to the dry cleaners and they wash it there. I just warn them so they know it will be a bit nasty

It's been weed and /or pooped on, put it in the bin.

Washing machine would never be able to get it 100% out.

I’ve got a mildly incontinent cat. Wash the bedding with biological powder. I also spray with Urine Off before washing. Duvet, doused with Urine Off to dry cleaners where they will wash it in huge washing machine. Or local laundrette if you have one.

Chemenger · 12/03/2022 11:27

If you take it to the cleaners tell them what has happened, they can treat it to get the pee smell out (I know this from the experience of having an elderly cat who liked to pee on the most expensive curtains in the house…).
