Elevated and angled food bowls are they a good choice for older cats?

We are hoping to adopt two older cats, siblings who are aged 15, from the CPL and are visiting them on Saturday.
Our last dear cat was an elderly gentleman who was with us for 4 and half years and lived to nearly 20. Adopting older cats works well for us as we live fairly near a quite busy road (at the front but back on to open fields in the rear garden) so having cats that don’t wish to wander far is a much safer option. We are retired ourselves and we love being able to offer a comfortable retirement to cats that might otherwise not easily find a new home.
My question is about elevated bowls. It’s over 2 years since we last had a cat and I’ve noticed that many people now use this type of bowl to help reduce vomiting and prevent neck pain. Are they useful/necessary and will older cats be able to adapt to them if not used to using previously?

Ooh, place marking because our old lady cat vomits a lot.

My old boy is about 19, and I bought a couple of those bowls a few years ago - he wouldn't use them. He actually chose not to eat anything at all for a day and a half. I quickly went back to using (old) side pates for his wet food, and a plastic dish for his dry stuff.

I have a regular vomited. It's massively improved since having a raised food bowl.

Thanks for the responses. I think it’s worth trying out the elevated bowls, and have a backup in case they don’t take to them.

Not sure about older cats but it has made an enormous difference with our serial vomiter, we have gone from once a week vomit surprise to every 2-3 months.

We visited today and will be picking up next week. They are gorgeous and affection cats.

Beautiful kitties ❤️

Awww they are lovely .
Mine are mere spring chickens and we bought the whisker friendly bowls with the scalloped edges . Female cat likes to worry us by picking out a morsel of food and eating it from her paw ( usually after she's had her first fill and goes back to see if her brothr has left anything )

My DBro had an elderly cat who liked her water from a pint glass ! . (She didn't drink a pint but it was higher than a bowl amd had to be changed daily )

A few years ago one of our cats preferred to drink water which had been spilt on the floor! So his solution was to put his paw into unattended glasses and push them over, DS was a teenager at the time and frequently left his glass of water on the bottom of the stairs before taking up to bed with him. It became a battle of wills between the two.

Sorry I'm not sure about older cats as mine are 2 and 4. But we bought the elevated, tilted bowls when big cat had hiccups constantly after eating and little cat kept vomiting.

The bowls have made a huge difference and they both adapted straightaway and look much more comfortable when eating.

We also have a water fountain. Betsy (the little one) loves to swish her paw in the water and then lick it off her paw instead of actually drinking from the fountain 😂

I love those two cats
