I’m running out of options! I’ve three cats and five trays, they all piss SO MUCH that I’m only getting 3-4 days max out of completely fresh litter.

I’ve used:
World’s Best (the red packet)
Sanicat 7-day
Catsan
Wood pellets

None of them last! What can I try 😩 please help me!

I also have 3 cats ( 2 of them pretty large) and have no problem having 2 litter trays for them. One is a litter robot so it self-cleans and needs emptying every couple of days. the other is a top entry deep sided tray which they barely use as they prefer the litter robot since it's always clean. I couldn't cope with 5 litter trays, you must spend half the day dealing with cat litter!

I use Sanicat extra strong clumping litter, it's the best I have found. Clumps well and quickly (avoids next cat in getting dirty feet
If they jump in before the robot has rotated) is dust free and doesn't track as badly as others as have tried.

We were managing on 2 but then they started pissing in random locations so I added a couple of emergency trays! They don’t use all of them all of the time, just their two or three favourite trays Grin

Ever clean, I get mine online.

Intersand.

We have three indoor cats and use a brand called Greenwoods from ZooPlus.

It's a natural corn litter - lasts ages, no smell, doesn't track as much as other litters and is really affordable too.

I’m no expert, I get my kitten this month so can’t talk from experience.
I’ve spent ages researching and watched YouTube videos on the Purina Breeze litter tray system, will link below, it was from a woman running a cattery and was the most economical way.

Basically it’s using wood pellets but in a tray designed with much smaller holes than the sifting trays in Pets at home etc so you don’t lose a load of litter.
I looked at purchasing the Breeze litter tray but not readily available here, Zooplus had it but out of stock.
Anyway I have purchased the Brit Pet litter system instead as closest I could find. I had tray delivered yesterday and I’m very happy with quality. Website was annoying and is pricier than Pets at home though. I will be buying my wood pellets from them.

Hope this is of something use.

Cat’s Best.

Big sack lasts months. Wee balls come together really nicely (well, nicely for a ball of cat piss) and poos take on a good croquette type coating, meaning both can be scooped out easily. I top up weekly and give the whole tray a clean and replace all the litter every 3 weeks or so.

I’m glad you started this thread op as I wanted to know also! 8 have two large cats use catsan two cat litter boxes and I’m changing the whole cat litter every two days, costing a bomb

AwkwardPaws27 · 06/03/2022 21:20

We use Worlds Best multicat (two cats, two trays - should really have a third but can't fit it anywhere!). Scoop clumps daily, top up every 4-5 days, only fully charged about once a fortnight.

Logoplanter · 07/03/2022 17:10

I think how much litter you use is in large part determined by what you feed your cats.

Our previous cats would only eat dry cat food, we used Greenwoods litter and a large bag lasted a long time. Our current cats diet is mostly wet food and we use wood pellets but are going through a lot more litter and I'm very careful about sifting it when I scoop and only getting rid of the used litter. I think they just visit the tray a lot more often 🤷 Having said that, with 2 indoor cats and 3 trays the litter still only costs about £3 a week so it's not a lot.

CosmicComfort · 07/03/2022 18:47

I really like cat’s best litter, it doesn’t smell and it clumps really nicely so you can satisfyingly scoop the wee.

It seems to last much longer, much prefer it to catsan.

Still gets spread everywhere by the cat though🤷‍♀️

InexperiencedDogOwner · 07/03/2022 23:27

Pets at home antibac (the white one) is our fave. The rescue centre we got them from used chicken feed as litter which worked surprisingly well and is cheap for a massive bag.
So fed up of sweeping litter all the time though and can't wait til they can go out (but that's a whole new thread!)

Stickytreacle · 08/03/2022 00:38

Nine cats here and the litter we use is an ultra clumping clay, professional classic by intersand or golden grey master. Tigerino also do a Canada clay that we sometimes use. I am considering switching to a corn based litter for environmental reasons though.

EstellaHanclay · 08/03/2022 00:52

I’ve three cats, two trays and a terrible cat allergy. I use the purple worlds best. It lasts for weeks and is the only one that the smell doesn’t linger making my nose twitch and skin itch lol

bebarkered · 08/03/2022 01:10

I've got 3 cats and have bought every brand of cat litter known to man. I find Tesco Lightweight Cat Litter the best. Lovely and white, very absorbant and controls nasty niffs. Only £1.85 for 10 litres too 😁

SquirrelG · 08/03/2022 04:48

I'm not in the UK but I use crystals. I've just moved and my three cats don't seem to like going outside yet so I am having to change the litter twice a week (one tray), but under normal circumstances I would get two weeks out of a tray (half a bag).

Snog · 08/03/2022 09:02

Cats best is great for odour control, lasts a long long time and is flushable.
I do have some tracking issues with it.

I've also tried Tigerino crystals but my cats prefer softer litter. Also Tigerino clumping clay which my cats really like and lasts quite well, need to vacuum it up daily though from the floor.

We were recommended to use Vancat by the DCat's breeder. When I looked into it I felt pretty uncomfortable about the environmental impact of clay based litters and went for Natusan instead. It does track a bit (DCat has very fluffy paws) but clumps brilliantly.

EventuallyDelighted · 08/03/2022 15:26

We used Cats Best for years but it tracked everywhere, smelled unpleasant and the cats used to pee over the edge of the tray if there were already any wee clumps in there, presumably to keep their feet out of it. We have switched to Felipure clay clumping litter now, they love it (we did a tray of each side by side for a month and they abandoned the Cats Best completely within a day or so). Really easy to scoop, they do kick it out of the tray but it doesn't travel, I just use a dustpan and brush to scoop it back in again.

coldandverytired · 08/03/2022 15:33

We use the Marseille soap sanicat, lasts ages.

thecatneuterer · 08/03/2022 15:39

Wood pellets don't last, but they don't smell and are very cheap, so does it matter? A 30L bag of Pets at Home wood litter is only £8. You could change it every day and a bag would still last you a couple of months.

sunshinesupermum · 08/03/2022 17:34

I need a cat litter that i can flush and isn't those dreadful little white pellets that scatter all over the house. Please help fellow cat lovers!

Techno56 · 08/03/2022 17:39

I use super benek corn cat (natural, not scented - yuck) from zooplus.

I do only have one cat but he's an indoor boy - we scoop every day and it's flushable - though you have to wait a bit for the clumps to come apart in the loo before flushing.

I top up every few days and only fully change fortnightly and it doesn't smell at all that I've noticed.

We have a mat by the tray exit that catches almost all the bits that come out when he exits the tray at speed (why do they do this 🤣)

Just be careful if you have a greedy cat as o have caught mine eating it when it's clean!! It smells like food because it's made from corn 🙄

PS here's the culprit

I'm a cat sitter and catsan non clumping is the work of the devil, I hate the stuff 😂

Catsan clumping is ok but I'm a worlds best advocate. She one of my families is using this I'm a very happy person! 🥳
