Poorly cat won’t eat, what is appetising that we can try?

Have tried all sorts. She’s losing weight and we’ve just started treatment for a possible auto immune disorder.
Have tried all sorts and she’s just not interested. She will eat the cat yoghurts. Sometimes eats Purina one biscuits. Used to always eat the good as it looks felix and purina (?) savoury cake. She might have a bit of chicken. She won’t have Tuna or sardines. Not much interested in a slurp of cream at moment.
Has anyone got any suggestions what might tempt a poorly cat with no appetite please.

We gave Ambrosia creamed rice to one of our cats when we couldn't tempt her with anything else. It's not exactly ideal cat food, but if it's a question of just getting some calories into her, it might be worth a try

You could try Turkey, my cat hates Tuna and Sardine as well but she does seem to enjoy Turkey and Liver.

Fingers crossed for you op Flowers

Pilchards in tomato sauce

Something salty (be careful if adding salt not to go overboard but my ancient cat would always be tempted by salty food rg marmite)

Proper beef gravy from a roast..Bit of beef

Ham

Cheese (try cream cheese, or camembert)

Salmon, cod (tinned or fresh)

Pate

....cake

Hand feeding can work too

She might have been a bit spoiled in old age Grin

Nutritional yeast sprinkled over warmed food is worth trying- it smells really cheesy and cats love the smell of it.

One of my cats had pancreatitis last year and stopped eating and drinking (I was syringing water into him) and nutritional yeast got him eating again.

I think I got it in Holland and Barrett.

@Netty909

My cats used to love a can of pilchards in tomato sauce. My friend who’s a vet said that she gave this to her poorly cat as it is strong smelling and they can lick the sauce and may eat a little of the pilchard mashed up too. Hope she feels better soon.
I used to work in a cattery and this was what we used for cats that were refusing to eat for whatever reason.

I haven't RTFT but I have a fussy cat who has needed to eat before!

Raw turkey mince
Roast chicken
Applaws cat food gently warmed (tinned ones)
Nutritional yeast
Kitten weaning paste tinned or frozen raw
If you have a decent pet shop they usually sell sachets of frozen raw (purrform my cat loves)
Anything stolen/licked off your hand
Catnip biscuits (b&m/home bargains)

I came to say cat yoghurts too. Both of mine love them and it's so easy to get meds down the older one with them.

The only other thing Ivy would eat when she was really poorly was the soup style sachets. I think purina and felix do them as well as Sheba. Even better slightly warmed through.

And yea to mentioning mirtazapine to the vets.

I was on it and the GP would not have it that it had increased my appetite!!!

Then the vet called and asked permission to try with ivy to get her to eat while she was in the hospital.

Was like "I KNEW IT!!!"

One of mine refused to eat recently following sickness. The vet gave her an antihistamine tablet to stimulate appetite. The meal that finally tempted her was warm poached chicken with yogurt lick-e-licks. She ate that solidly for 2 days plus some prawns. Nutritional yeast was recommended to me too but the above worked before I got any.

One poorly cat in our family was nursed through feline flu by giving him chopped liver. He wasn't eating, but liver was his favourite & that seemed to work when everything else was refused.

You could try human baby food, onion/leek/garlic/chive free ones obvs.

My grandma had to feed her lab puppy baby food as he was only 6 weeks old when they got him, it was the 70’s and even then 6wks was considered young.

My boy loves a roast chicken dinner with a bit of gravy, or a sausage.

The cat soups are good too, or full fat lacto-free milk
