I very recently adopted a Bengal female. She hasn't been neutered yet (I intend to asap), she is meant to be a house cat and doesn't go out, but is honestly a Houdini. She's on heat.

My 3 year old let her out at about 5pm today. I have "found" her in the vicinity twice since then but she has quite badly attacked me both times and is hissing and extremely aggressive - very out of character for her. And she is with a local Tom cat. She keeps running away.

When she has escaped before, she comes back. Or at least comes outside the house and lets me pick her up. This time she is just gone, I can't find her anywhere.

It's like she hates me. She is also gorgeous so I'm scared she will get stolen.

I am so tired and DS is asleep in bed. My dad came round to help but he's just had to leave as he has work in the morning.

What the hell do I do? Im going out of my mind!!! I feel like she's gone forever.

oh wonderful news! Lets hope the vets fit her in asap though as I suspect she will be pregnant. Lock those doors and hide the keys from your 3yr old in the meantime. Pets and kids are the biggest source of grey hairs Sad

Oh thank heavens. And yes, as everyone has said, it matters not one jot that she has been mated, as long as you can get her booked in reasonably quickly. There is in fact no reason why you can't have a spay abort until quite late in a pregnancy, but obviously it's better to do it as early as you can - then you can just look at is as a form of morning after contraception.
@Happenchance No way will a rescue have homed an unspayed bengal.
I know that no reputable rescue would have re-homed an unneutered Bengal, especially not with a three year old, but I was giving the OP the benefit of the doubt that she wasn't using adopted as a euphemism for privately re-homed.

@buttercrinkle, does she have any bite or scratch marks on her? If she does, she may need antibiotics and should be tested for FIV.

Oh thank goodness she is back, she is lucky to have such a loving 'mum', as you! She is obviously a bit traumatised, but I'm guessing no where near as upset as you have been, and the best thing is that she came back to you, so you are obviously where she wants to be, and who she trusts 💐

Glad she’s back. We took a stray in years ago, booked her in for spay and they found she was in the early stages of pregnancy when they were doing the op. They terminated the pregnancy and continued with the spay.
