Bloody hell I took my 12 year old girl in to have her teeth done and one extraction today. £700, I'll be eating dust on toast this month.
She wasn't happy about it either.

Good heavens! Most practices wouldn't charge that for a full mouth extraction. (apart from Village Vets in Hampstead - but their prices are truly out of this world - and, knowing them would charge £7000 per tooth - but anyway, that's another story).

This is rural Somerset. The cats are insured but routine dental isn't covered.

Just booked Sparklingcat in for a dental. £440 plus extractions are anythig between £10 and £90 per tooth depending on how difficult.

She might not be happy @Shehasadiamondinthesky but I bet she has lovely fresh breath!

Bloody hell. I shopped around and went to my parents vet, who changed £140 instead of the £400 my own was charging!

Our cat just had his annual check up and boosters. The vet suggested some kind of teeth cleaning. I don't fancy those sort of bills if the teeth go bad!
She suggested something the cat chews. There is not a chance of cleaning the teeth without blood (mine) so this seems like a good idea. Any recommedations?

That does sound a steep. It was five years ago, but my old girl was booked in for a teeth clean and three extractions and it cost around £250 - included a follow up as well as she was old and had a heart murmur.

Either way, it's more important you had it done and I'm sure she's worth it.

Luckily when I went to pay the bill it was £300. They had quoted on worst case scenario. She has nice shiny teeth now. But now she has an eye infection so back to the vet we go.
