I would expect around £800-£1200 depending on pedigree and papers. Kitten prices have gone crazy.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/01/2022 16:59

St Francis Persian rescue have a beautiful one currently up for adoption

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 17/01/2022 17:01

Sorry about kitty, have you looked at rescue sites. Does it have to be a BSH.

DogsandBoysmeanMud · 17/01/2022 17:04

The reason we want another BSH is they get on well with dogs and are usually very laid back. We have always had BSHs and just love their personality.

I'll have a look at the rescue mentioned. Thank you.

Yes you'd be looking at around the 1k mark.

BSH are beautiful - I wouldn't go for a Persian with the rather ugly face.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 17/01/2022 17:07

We paid £1000 recently for a registered female British Blue kitten. I believe males go for slightly less.

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 17/01/2022 17:13

Whereabouts in the country are you based

imreallycartman · 17/01/2022 17:13

Lazylegend · 17/01/2022 17:14

Adopt don’t shop

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 17/01/2022 17:46

@ thickthighs73 very rare that BSH are available to adopt. Op we traveled to get our beautiful girl but did our research and went with a good registered breeder and got a bargain we feel because we just adore her.

belimoo · 17/01/2022 17:49

Would you consider a ragdoll? I paid £600 for mine, fully registered, spayed and vaccinated etc.

That's also a very laidback, docile but confident breed. Usually need to be kept indoors though as they don't have much of an instinct to defend themselves.

CeliaCanth · 17/01/2022 17:50

We paid £900 for a Blue and £1100 for a Lilac in April last year. The blue was discounted as we bought them from the same breeder. They really have been worth every penny - they are the sweetest, funniest, most people-friendly cats we have ever known.

DogsandBoysmeanMud · 17/01/2022 18:02

@thickthighs73

Adopt don’t shop
Most adoptions won't consider a house with 2 dogs (who have always lived with BSHs). Also we would prefer a younger (less than 6 months) so it grows up with us because we are a busy house.

Thank you but we want a cat that goes in and out as we don't live near any roads. All our BSHs were amazing at catching mice.

I had indoor cats when I was in my 20s so understand why some don't go outside.

@DogsandBoysmeanMud I have a Ragdoll who I rehomed from a friend in a flat as he was desperate for outdoor access so they're not all home birds... my moggie couldn't care less about going out but the Raggie yells at doors if his cat flap isn't unlocked in the morning ( and sometimes even if it is). He's also a proficient hunter and more than capable of seing off the neighbours giant grey boycat when he visits! Thankfully we live in a quiet spot so the cats can roam if they wish... waiting to see what the most recent addition (oriental cross kitten) decides... she's not shown any interest so far but isn't spayed yet so doesn't get the choice yet!

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 17/01/2022 18:19

PS M'y friend paid £500 for the Raggie but that was 7 years ago... round here they're currently going between £800 and £1200...

JohnnyEyebrows · 17/01/2022 18:31

@Toddlerteaplease OOPS 😜

thickthighs73 · 17/01/2022 19:33

@DogsandBoysmeanMud that’s not strictly true, why do people make excuses not to look into adoption?

I have looked, and spoken to local rescue, and been advised that they rarely rehome cats to people with dogs!! I'd happily adopt. But I understand that going from an adoption pen to house with dogs and other animals, kids and lots of noise is not ideal.

Maybe the issue is the adoption centres that seem to think everyone who owns a dog as well is incapable of introducing the cat to the dog gently. And that some dogs love cats!!
