Bloody bengals

Hi,
Posting for some advice. I have 2 absolutely beautiful, gentle 1 year old bengal girls. Totally adored in our home by us and oymur labrador, kids love them, and they want to be on
(mainly my) knee all the time. All good.
BUT.. They WEE everywhere. Cooker hob. Sink. Food bowl. Beds. Carpet. You name it, they will squat on it 🙈
Pets are for life and I couldn't part with them but its absolutely draining. Tried all different types of litter, trays, all over. They will literally come in after playing happily in our big garden free roam, and pittle in front of us.
Must add, in excellent physical health and up to date with worming fleas etc,

Any tips? Rehone isn't an option 😀

Firstly, what beautiful kitties.

DCat went through a phase of doing this, behind the telly and in the DDogs bed were favourite places, she eventually just seemed to grow out of it. The most recent incidents have been when I have been poorly and haven't been as on top of the litter tray as usual.

Do they have their own litter trays?

Wanderingone85 · 04/01/2022 20:16

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes they have their own, but neither will use them for a wee, only a number 2 which is something at least!
I dearly hope they do grow out of it, my rug doctor takes an absolute bashing trying to find where they have peed 🙈
They don't seem unhappy at all, infact, the total opposite, they sleep mainly with our labrador in her bed, and I can't see anything that is stressing them 😕

Are they spayed?

Wanderingone85 · 04/01/2022 21:57

Hi, not yet, but will be very shortly. Do you think that will that make a difference? They obviously aren't near Tom's and are supervised outside, we are pretty rural 😊

Are you really letting your cats out unspayed? Shock

Do not let them out again until they're fixed. They are peeing all over your house because their hormones are going haywire with their seasons.

Please ring the vet in the morning and get them booked in ASAP.

ItsSnowJokes · 04/01/2022 22:47

They need to be spayed as a matter of urgency. Please do not let them outside until they have had the op. Their hormones will be going crazy!

Northernlurker · 04/01/2022 23:03

Toms will travel miles to get to a female. You're very lucky they aren't knocked up.

We had a Bengal that was spayed at seven months old. She pissed absolutely everywhere until her dying day. Her favourite was on clean folded washing, but she wasn't too fussy, she'd use the bath mat, doormat, kitchen sides, cushions, carpet.....

Spaying doesn't necessarily stop this

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 04/01/2022 23:10

@AnnaBolina unfortunately once a cat has started marking it's very difficult to get them to stop. It's habit for them but they're also attracted to the smell of where they've gone before and it can be impossible to get the smell out of some things!

I agree spaying doesn't always solve the issue but having two unspayed females certainly won't be helping Wink

AmandaHoldensLips · 04/01/2022 23:11

Ours was very fussy about having clean CatSan litter after every single use.

redpandaalert · 04/01/2022 23:20

One of my two female Tonkinese cats (just turned one) has had a lot of wee accidents especially on beds. Although the other one did use to wee behind the TV. They have got better since they have turned one. However, we have found the biggest improvement is by installing a cat flap and not keeping them in at night (we are fairly rural and no busy roads) Although they do seem to spend most of night in our room. I think this has made them less stressed. They both are easily stressed and that provokes the pee incidents. They still pee in the garage though….

Want2beme · 04/01/2022 23:21

Until you manage to solve the peeing problem, would you confine them to one room in the house?

This might be useful.

Have you had the urine tested at the vets? Uti don’t present as normal infections do.

I would neuter these two asap and try sanicat gold litter, bengals are sybarites on the quiet.

My Bengal wouldn’t use woodchip litter.

Chemenger · 05/01/2022 17:10

Are they not driving you insane when they come on heat? You really must get them neutered before you let them outside again. You're very lucky you haven't got two pregnant cats.

Danikm151 · 05/01/2022 18:41

I asked about this at a pet store and they advised getting a spray to neutralise the smell of their pee so they won’t want to mark again.
Only 1 more incident with my half Bengal - always on my son’s chair and she’s not tried it since.
