Kitten driving older cat nuts help!

So we have a lovely little girl kitten 3.5 months and an 8 year old male. He has been very good and tolerant and plays with her to a certain extent. She adores his company but wants to be jumping on him and wrestling all the time!
We have split them up at night and during the day he can get away to our room and he can get on top of the wardrobe.
Are there any tips to making her less manic or is it just age related kitten craziness?
Should I take her off him each time ? Sometimes he instigates play but he’s like a fun uncle he plays for 10 mins and then it’s like he’s done.
Thanks

Also he goes out so can escape but she isn’t spayed yet as vet waiting until she’s over 2kg which should be in next few weeks.

I’d just leave him to it, if he clouts her one for being annoying it won’t harm her. It’ll teach her his boundaries.

You can’t calm her down, you can play with her till she’s tired out but that’s about it.

Thanks! He does a lot of hissing and growling all the time and I’m worried she’s turning him into a. Nervous wreck pouncing on him all the time. She doesn’t seem to take the hint of he wallops her one.
Will definitely try and distract her more

I love the action shots OP 😹

My older boy Woody was great with young Kloppy when I adopted him last year - showed him the ways of the world and taught him how to look after himself outside. It kind of backfired though when Kloppy started doing what I can only describe as a WWF 'body slam' move on poor, gentle Woody Shock Grin

ilovebagpuss · 29/12/2021 16:22

Yes! That’s the move Grin round the neck and try and slam him but she just gets pinned underneath and there is a lot of low yowls and kicking and then it starts all over again! Poor lad just wants a quiet life.

I have just shut her in the lounge with her toys and will give him a break and play with her for a while.

I have a similar situation - a 4 year old cat and a (currently) 8 month old, who has been very pushy. The kitten is basically a bit of a twat in terms of the way she approaches the grown up cat - there's a lot of chasing and fighting. Things are settling down a bit at the moment, but I think the moment I'd start intervening is when the grown up cat starts leaving the house and not coming back in. I had one evening like that a few weeks ago, when my older cat was out in the pissing rain, and I had to call her back in. If she hadn't come back in, I'd have seriously had to consider if I could keep both cats.

Yes that’s true I couldn’t bear him to feel pushed out to that extent. He does come in a lot and hang around and she leaves him sometimes and I’m careful to make sure he gets alone time in the bed napping.
She really wants to be with him and sometimes just sits by him but he’s a bit of a grumpy bugger.
In the morning the both greet each other as she nose to nose says hello and rubs under his chin which he seems to like.
Just hope she gets the message to stop being so full on. He even lets her eat from his bowl and he goes and hoovers
her leftovers too so there doesn’t seem to be any food anger.

Plenty of slam moves going on here amongst bungee jumping attacks and it is nearly 3 years later. My older cat has been terrorized but has been so tolerant on the whole.
If I knew what I know now I would not have introduced another kitten to an older cat as he has had to put up with a hell of a lot.
I think eventually she has turned in to company for him, but it has been a long time coming, they never cuddle up together.
All I know is that one of my other cats who died of old age would have made mince meat of the kitten had he still have been with us.
