Wet cat food

We've just rehomed two 7 year old rescue cats who were fed on wet food twice a day and had down dry food to graze on. They ate Go Cat biscuits and Butchers or Felix wet food so this is what I'm currently giving them.

I am planning on changing their food over time as I don't think either of these foods will be great quality. Thing is, my cats in the past have always eaten a complete dry food so I've no experience of wet food really and was looking for advice on what to get them and how much to feed.

They are fairly petite and I'm currently giving them 2 pouches a day shared between them, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Biscuits are down all day. They obviously like the wet food but haven't cleared their bowls completely so I'm guessing this amount is about right for wet for them...?

We used to buy our food in bulk from Zooplus so something we could get from there would be good.

Thanks in advance

Good quality cat food has a high percentage of meat. I would look for a brand with 70% at least. Or just the highest you can afford.
The quantity really depends on the size of the cat and also the amount of dry food. They usually complain if they get hungry. I feed 1 pouch morning and another at night. And they also have some dry food available. But i guess its ok to feed less wet food if you top it off with the dry food.

My vets' advice has always been to give them a high quality dry food and not to worry too much about the wet food as it's mostly there for taste, liquid and moisture.

We feed a urinary dry food as one of our cats is prone to UTI's (but they all eat and enjoy the urinary food) and they get half a pouch of Felix twice a day.

We've tried the expensive high quality foods and they just won't eat them. We've tried pâté style, food in gravy, even the Applaws tins and they will just ignore it and walk off. I've even tried other slightly more expensive supermarket brands like Sheba but they will only eat Felix Doubly Delicious.

I consider it a bit of a miracle to have found a food that suits all three of them and that they all wolf down at mealtimes so I can't get worked up about it being "McDonald's for cats" anymore.

Well. My cat eats what it wants to eat and I have no control. I have tried the really expensive cat food and he wouldn’t eat it. I tried so many different ones and in the end he will only eat one. Cat didn’t know what was good for him Grin

My cat has a mixture of dry food for sensitive stomach, applaws chicken poultry in a tin and whiskas which he just has the jelly.
He now 16 years old. Tried other food over time but find the above suits him. Just gradually change food over time.
