How often do you feed fish?

My 7 month old kitten is fussy (aren't they all?) Has two cans of wet food a day. Likes chicken but loo-ooves tuna! Any fish really so salmon, mackerel, tiny shrimp etc etc. I think it's the strong smell that reels her in. Turns her nose up at other meats like turkey or beef.

So I feed her fish in the morning and chicken or duck in the evening. Is fish okay every day? Obviously I feed her the commercial grain free cat foods, not tuna in a can of brine or anything...

If its fish variety cat food it's fine to feed daily. It's when you are just feeding tins of tuna etc it's a problem as it's not nutritionally balanced.

Oh thanks @Xfox Smile the challenge now is to get used to the fishy breath, the li"l stinker!

As long as she's eating a complete diet on top of the tuna, I can't see an issue with her having it occasionally, but I would be aware of her eating too much tuna/fish if it stops her eating her normal food.

Mercury poisoning is also a potential issue so I wouldn't be feeding her tuna everyday. You could feed other fish or just get her fish flavoured foods instead, though :)

Cheers @icedcoffees Smile yes she has dry food available at all times. Good quality kibble specifically made for kittens. The wet food tins are also kitten- focused with added vitamins etc etc- the usual bells and whistles.

But yes she does have a can of tuna almost daily. It was so easy to mix in her wormer granules and probiotic paste with fish- it went down a treat. Came in very handy during her bout of giardiasis. I may have made a rod for my own back Confused
