Very worried about cat

My six year old cat is not well. She has been lethargic for a week or more (not playing, sleeping a lot and so on). She seems to have problems with her rear legs (strange gait, cannot jump well, problems accessing raised litter tray (can use shallow ones). She has been sick once or twice and one of her eyes seems to be more closed than the other.

She in an indoor cat, but she is from feral stock (brought up by us from being a kitten). She has had all her vaccinations, but I am worried about Felv.

We are taking her to the vets this afternoon, but I am very concerned because people have told me that if this is Felv, the vet may advise putting her to sleep.

Does this sound like something serious?

Hi OP, I couldn't read and run. I hope things go well at the vet's later on. It could be something minor, an infection perhaps, that's making poor puss feel lethargic?

🤞🤞🤞

Thank you. I really hope so.

I had my FELV+ boy for 7 years, it's not always a death sentence.

I hope it's nothing to serious OP.

Thank you for the encouragement. She is still eating and drinking well, and she enjoyed her morning combing today. I am not looking forward to trying to get her in the carrier. Lethargic or not, she will fight.

Just a quick update. The vet visit went well. The vet examined our little cat, and could not find anything ominous. The vet thinks it is either something neurological (there is definite weakness in the back legs), or the cat may have slipped a disc. We have some anti-inflammatory medication for her.
