Stood on my cat!

I stood on my cat yesterday he made a noise I didn't even see where I stood on him
He's not eaten as much since and he's not been as bouncy
The sort of behaviour an owner only knows it's different cos you know your cat so well
I'm so worried I've hurt him

It's most likely he's a bit narked with you and you are feeling guilty but if he's unwell then get. They are tough little beasts though. With rib cage protecting organs etc. Unless you trod on him with both feet hard I'm sure he's ok

Northernlurker · 24/11/2021 23:28

Then vet!

bethabean · 24/11/2021 23:37

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and stood on my kitten getting off the bed a few weeks ago. He made a noise i had never heard before and I cried for ages! Pretty sure my heffa of a body reversed onto his backSadIt's such an awful feeling, isn't it.

He saw the vet the next day and was absolutely fine. As pp said, he's probably just holding a grudge Grin cats are tougher than they look, even with their slinky bodies!

Of course though, if he seems unwell to you then take him to the vets to check him over, but also for your own peace of mind

BobbieT1999 · 24/11/2021 23:41

If he seems unwell then take him to the vet.

Least you can do really Grin poor thing!

However I've stepped on my cat more than once (little sod likes to sleep on the stairs) and he's been fine so don't feel too guilty!

NotMyCat · 24/11/2021 23:42

I sat on mine and he fully sulked for a day, I was frantic. There was nothing wrong, he was just fuming BlushGrin

purpleme12 · 25/11/2021 00:04

I hope so
I just get worried sick about him when his behaviour changes
I'll see what he's like tomorrow i guess
Never stop worrying 😞

You don't Smile honestly I properly sat on mine
I stood up to reach a pen (at my desk) and immediately sat back down and the little git had climbed on my chair
He shot off screeching and wouldn't come near me all day (he's v clingy usually) and I was preparing for a vet trip. I think I just insulted him

BobbieT1999 · 25/11/2021 00:59

...I've done that too. Same cat.

He still loves me.

purpleme12 · 25/11/2021 09:11

He didn't come down miaowing for food this morning
I had to bring it up to him and he ate less than usual
He stayed on the end of the bed whereas normally he'd be downstairs hanging around
There've been times in the past where I've brought him to the vets cos his behaviour was bit different but he's been fine (although he wasn't eating less)
Oh god

BobbieT1999 · 25/11/2021 10:27

Don't panic.

Whisk him off to the vets but I think its unlikely to be a serious injury - if it were there'd be other indications.

Ours was off her food at the weekend. I spent twenty quid at pah to tempt her and yup, she was just bored of the food we had been giving her. Eating like a horse now,

SallySkelington · 25/11/2021 19:21

I rolled over mine in bed once, thinking she was the duvet and she never even moved!! I'm sure he will be fine but vet if you're worried

purpleme12 · 25/11/2021 23:40

I've got A vet appointment tomorrow which will cost a fortune
I'm worried sick

purpleme12 · 26/11/2021 00:19

I can't sleep I'm so worried can someone please talk to me

OP posts:
Rhannion · 26/11/2021 00:25

I’m sure he will be fine. You are doing the right thing by taken him, but cats really are tougher than they look.
Please let us know how he gets on. You clearly love him very much and he is a lucky cat.

Rhannion · 26/11/2021 10:45

How are you and your cat today?

purpleme12 · 26/11/2021 11:11

I am at the vets
They are worried he might have hyperthyroidism and kidney disease
They don't think I could have caused this by standing on him
When I asked why this started after I stood on him he said perhaps this aggravated it but he thinks something's been going on
I just can't cope 😓😓😓
I'm so worried

OP posts:
BobbieT1999 · 26/11/2021 14:44

Oh bless him, poor thing. Both things are common in kitties and treatable. At least you know now that you didn't harm him. He'll be ok, op Flowers

Rhannion · 26/11/2021 20:15

These conditions are treatable, my cat has kidney issues, he is 17 and still doing well.
It’s good that you took him so it can be treated.

TheBalletCats · 01/12/2021 16:07

How’s he doing now @purpleme12?

Please don’t worry that you made your cat ill: tbh if anything you probably got him to the vet sooner than you otherwise would’ve done.

One of my cats was diagnosed with (genetic) renal issues at the age of 5 (he’ll be 10 in April). Still managed by diet; & he’s still on excellent form.

Hope that you & your feline friend are home & enjoying All. The. Snuggles.
