Kittens plus Xmas tree... bad idea?!

Wondering if anyone has any experience of what kittens are like with a Xmas tree? Ours are nearly 4 months old now and I usually put the tree up on 1st Dec but will it be a nightmare with them climbing it and pulling everything off?

I know of a kitten who died because they got stuck in the lights cord and suffocated. I’m afraid the age your kittens are at the moment is the worst for this because they are physically strong but have the sense of danger of a toddler. If you do out one put, get a pre-lighted one so you don’t have to add corder lights.

Corded lights

I've had cats for 40 years, and none has ever been a problem with Christmas trees.
My current madam, however, carefully dug out her own present from the pile under the tree, and used her claw to make a neat surgical incision in the wrapping, before extricating the catnip flavoured mouse inside...!

She’s obviously gifted and talented @Babdoc

I had cats as a child and young adult and we never had a problem with them attacking the tree somehow.
But we adopted a very lively one year old earlier this year and I'm not sure how it's going to go.
We only have an artificial one so won't be the end of the world if it's knocked over though.
She's very very inquisitive and will love it when we get boxes out to decorate it. She gets very hyper when there's lots of activity in the house.
Will be an interesting Xmas day too with all the present opening and people. She'll love it.

Would a fibre optic one be safest as it won't have corded lights or can they electrocute themselves chewing on the fibre optic bits in the tree?
