2 new kittens on the way

So, we lost our last cat to an accident 😢 and we are now ready to welcome a new fur baby. I've only ever had single cats before and have this time decided to opt for 2 gorgeous balls of fur. They are coming from CPL on Friday. I still have all the necessities for 1, what do I need extra for 2.
They had not been handled at all before coming to the CPL, the black and white one, henceforth being called Harry, is braver than his brother Ronald, the DD's chose names, they are Potter fans. Any tips on helping them settle in if they are different temperaments?

Obligatory photos included.

They are gorgeous.
Looks like they'll both be longhaired so get them used to grooming nice and early. I used a furminator for my longhaired boy when he wasn't still with us.
Young kittens tend to get overexcited zooming around and sometimes get caught short - I'd confine them to one or two rooms for the first few days until they are confident with where the tray is. Scout out any hiding places (behind the fridge/washing machine are common boltholes) & block up if possible.
One litter tray per cat, plus a spare, is the usual guidance.
Long feather on a stick type toys so they get the message that toys are for playing with, not hands 😁 it also means you can sit and play with them while they build confidence with getting too close.
A cardboard box is always a hit, again you can sit with them and they have somewhere to retreat to if unsure.
Sitting on the floor is good so you aren't looming over them, they'll soon be clambering all over you I'm sure.

Wow what beauties!I have a long hair ginger and use a pet teezer brush.

Make sure they have separate feeding bowls. I think I did confine them to the downstairs for a few days, and now they have a litter box on each floor. They do go outside but haven't quite started 'going' outside - they will be out there for an hour, come in to use box then go out again!
It's good to get two - we debated, got one then went back for another a week later and so glad we did as they play together all the time.

They are beautiful Smile

Thank you. Sounds like I have everything I need then except an extra litter tray as I had 2 so the 3rd one is one order.
Just all counting down the days until Friday so we can go and pick them up.

They look gorgeous!

is CPL fosterer teaching them to be handled or picked up?

ShakespearesSisters · 22/11/2021 20:34

The CPL says they have both been improving every day since they arrived. They are getting neutered on Wednesday. I'm expecting some very shy cats that are going to need lots of patience.
Although my last cat was also classed as feral by them when we had him and he settled in very quickly. Hopefully these will be the same.
Are there any tips on teaching them to be handled @ragged?

Handling: little and often. Pick up, give some nice strokes, put down. Quick but confident. Repeat. Repeat. Hold them very securely. Lots of talking to them otherwise.

Treats may be handy if they are scared of hands approaching their faces. let them have a good sniff -- smell is how they recognise most things.

How old are they - they seem so little to be neutered.

ShakespearesSisters · 23/11/2021 07:55

Thanks @ragged thats all the sort of thing I had in mind. Due to school and a brownies trip my girls aren't here very much Friday and Saturday so we can get a quieter start to settling them in.
I'm guessing, though hasn't been confirmed, that they are 12 weeks at the CPL has a policy of neutering at 12 weeks. They do look little in the photos and eyes still a bit blue but the photos may be a couple if weeks old.
I think I'm going to pop a blanket covered with our scent to the CPL to be put in with them on Wednesday so we don't smell strange when we collect on Friday.
