Mousing

Has anyone found a way to stop their cat bringing in mice? They are usually dead, but I can't leave a door/flap open without Dcat bringing in rodentry on a daily basis. I live rurally, so he can catch up to 3 a day. The biggest pain is that I cannot get friends to look after him while I am away, as I can't expect them to deal with the corpses. My cat is well-fed and a total softie apart from the mice. I currently have shrew jus in my conservatory from tonight's kill.

Shrew jus heh Grin sorry no help just chuckling at your cat's master chef aspirations. Can't stop them I'm afraid unless you are available 24/7 to triage incoming rodent situations. And confiscate off cat. Refuse to let her in if she won't unclamp her jaws

There is money to be had for the inventor of a cat flap that has some sort of facial recognition or weighing technology and only opens the door when the cat has an empty mouth.

Our DCat brings in live creatures that then die from fear/starvation/loss of blood from the broken leg/...

I found a corpse behind the back cushion of the sofa recently. God knows how long it had been there - a while I think because it was dedicated and flat Envy

Shows how often I give the sofa a good clean!

Oh I wish I knew! Our two cats (six months) are just venturing outside and I'm paranoid about mice that will then take up residence in my house. I don't have a flap and they haven't caught anything other than leaves and the odd fly, but I'm sure they are just biding their time!

We limit Big Boy to returning to the kitchen when he is out and about. He usually snacks on what he kills but mouse gifts aren't appreciated and at least this way, they are left on a wipeable floor and not carpet.
