They don't need worming and flea treatments every month... if you google what they are giving the cat. You maybe quite horrified at the side effects 😱

TaraR2020 · 05/11/2021 14:27

Wait and see what the vet says, they'll advise much better than we can.

Cats do need flea and worming treatmwnts regularly as a preventative, especially if - re the former - they have a flea allergy.

Flowersintheattic2021 · 05/11/2021 14:34

I've just read skin cancer on white cats :( on Google thats why panicking. I have that monthly flea and worm plan thats why I do it monthly. I could always do it 2 monthly?

It's very common for prescribed flea meds to cause skin problems

What's the stuff called that you are giving it?

TaraR2020 · 05/11/2021 14:45

They can do in some cases but why speculate here...The vet will assess and advise. If it's irritation or allergy to the treatments the vet will treat appropriately and advise alternative plan.

PeeAche · 05/11/2021 14:58

The black dots are rabbit fleas, maybe. Google and see if they match. My cat had them and it was a shock because he'd recently been treated. They congregate by the ears.

PeeAche · 05/11/2021 14:59

Apologies if I'm way off. Hard to tell from piccies. 🤐

AmandaHugenkiss · 05/11/2021 15:15

My money is on ear mites. If you use Advocate for your flea/worm, it covers them, but other treatments don’t. The Vet will be able to confirm what they are.

You absolutely do need to worm and flea regularly. You’ve been doing the right thing Smile

It is advocate. See what they say tomorrow fingers crossed its nothing. She's 12 now so an elder lady Grin

I can't say what the red spots are, but my white cat's got the little marks on her ears and the vet said recently that it's nothing to worry about. Her ears inside were dirty as wellGrin, so I clean them regularly now. I also wipe the outside of her ears. She's never deflead or wormed, as she's an indoor cat, doesn't mix with other cats and vet says it's not necessary for her. Take her to see the vet, for peace of mind.

Prattypatel · 05/11/2021 17:46

Its best to hear what the vet says. She looks a lovely cat, well cared for.If it is something minor she will get a cream and she will soon be better. If it is something serious, you know she had the very best life with you.I treat my dogs with advocate,it really helps and they are not plagued by unnecessary bugs.good luck for your vet visitFlowers

JewelleryBox · 05/11/2021 17:56

If it’s a reaction the flea/worming treatment then there are natural options you can use instead like Billy No Mates.

Flowersintheattic2021 · 05/11/2021 20:00

Thanks everyone. I'm wondering if the red spots are stress related as she dislikes the cat we got beginning of this year. If I don't watch him when playing he jumps on her back. 😤. I'll update with what the vet said tomorrow as we have a 915 appointment Grin

I have had cats with those scabby spots on their ears before. In the cats with white ears, in a couple of cases it was sunburn, and one did go on to develop skin cancer in one ear.

But black irritated spots near the ears can also indicate ear mites. How do they look inside?
