Introducing litter mate after a month

Just as the title says really - homed a kitten about a month ago who is rhe most wonderful, soft, loving little boy cat in the world (biased of course!). The home for one of his litter mates has fallen through and my friend asked if I'd like to take her on as well. I'm obviously delighted to do so - always room for more furry kitties!

However, as they've been apart a month, is there anything I need to do to ensure an easy transition? I didn't get my lovely boy until 16 weeks, so he'd spent four months with his mum and siblings (mine was the first to fly the nest) so I'm hoping he'll still remember her and fur won't fly? Are they terrifically territorial at that kind of age anyway?

My boy is due to have second injections and microchip next week so will be having the neutering conversation and try to get sorted asap as don't want a surprise litter of my own - eek!

Such a gorgeous boy and you're very lucky to be getting another!

Newbie cat will need a quiet space for a while until she feels settled then I think its wise to let them get to know each other nice and slowly at first, using something like a stair gate or a door slightly open so they can see and smell each other without any danger of scraps. Hopefully they will 'recognise' each other and be friendly quite quickly. I would make sure you have separate food bowls so your boy doesn't get upset about sharing and I think they need separate litter trays as well.
And yes neutering is top priority.

Thanks Lagney.. all sounds very sensible. I've already got new food bowls as was passing the shop when I decided to take her and two litter trays although probably should get another.

Luckily, she's already jabbed and on a pet plan so spared a bit of expense on the everyday expenses but neutering and spaying will be top of the agenda.

I am stupidly excited - we'd never had a kitten before our new boy, only ever rehomed older cats, so it's been a real delight seeing his curiosity and joy at the world.. can't wait for double that. I just don't want to put our little boys nose out of joint as he has settled with us so so beautifully!
