When will my cat stop pissing on the carpet?

6 yo female cat. Very stressed by neighbouring thug cats. She's got cystitis so she's currently locked in the kitchen and being grabbed by me to have medicine shoved down her throat followed by dreamies twice a day.
When she escapes from the kitchen she shuttles between flowerbeds, balcony plant pots, litter tray and staircase carpet trying to pee every 5 mins.

She's never peed on the carpets before. Please reassure me that once the pills start working she'll stop pissing on the stairs? I bought a spray which is supposed to stop her peeing on the same spot but it is completely useless.

Sounds like she needs Cystease mixed in her wet food. She must be in a lot of pain.

She is getting anti inflamatories as well as antibiotics.

I really hope she reverts back to her good habits before this happened.

Definitely add Cystease.

My boy had horrendous cystitis - two tablets a day and he's been fine ever since. You can get them off Amazon for very little. We pay £12 a month.

Sorry to be blunt but you have a choice:

Choice 1: house that permanently smells of cat wizz.

Choice 2: no cat.

Actually…the choice is really Choice 2. When you take it really depends on how long you’re prepared to tolerate Choice 1 for.

Have you looked at your home and checked there is nothing stressing her out (which can aggravate the cystitis)? I know there is an aggressive cat in the neighbourhood, but presume you are keeping her inside currently. Common stress triggers in cats are position of food and water sources, position/type of litter tray + litter, availability of resting/hiding spaces, new people or animals in the house, new or unpleasant smells, and many more. Have a look at the International Cat Care website - it is literally the bible of all things cat

I had a male cat who suffered a lot with cystitis. He was at the vet so much with it, had medication and was flushed out several times. There was one bad episode where he chose to pee on my bedroom carpet constantly and nothing could persuade him to stop. I had the carpet taken up in the end and will never have carpet again. Eventually, his cystitis stopped, along with the random peeing.

Poor cat, cystitis is awful and she is stressed by thugcats too. Can she be confined to a more comfortable room with some puppy pads down and a few litter trays, somewhere she feels warm and safe. Is there an easier way to give her medicine rather than having to grab her and chase her around.
