Anybody got a cat who's on a diet?

My eldest cat was always a bit chunky, but she's put on weight when she was last checked at her vaccination visit.

She's on a strict diet now, but she's really angry about it and attacks me every time I walk past her dining area. I've measured her quantities out and ration them through the day, but I feel sorry for her because she doesn't understand what's happening.

Do they generally adapt and get used to the smaller quantities? How long might this take?

My previous Darling tom cat was put on a diet but it was hopeless. Diet or no, he was always breaking into neighbouring houses stealing other kitties’ food. He got into scrapes as he then couldn’t get out of their houses after having sneaked in, and got trapped in a garage or two.
Was also a good hunter so also fed himself a free-range diet. But the dieting was of no use due to him being a food burglar.
(Sorry no helpful tips from me ☺️)

Also the car burglar stealing food is hilarious.

My 3 year old female is on a diet, she's on the Hills fat cat wet (forget the proper name) and Royal Canin fat cat dry. She is rather lazy, and does try her luck with anyone elses scraps, but seems to have accepted her fate after a couple of weeks! If you can't limit the food, can you increase his playtime/exercise??

She's on Royal Canin Urinary, Catit wet, Canagan wet and Applaws wet. Sometimes, Miaowing Heads.

I've two sisters...one's a string bean, the other is a chonk.

At her last 6 monthly vet check she'd gained a kilo of lockdown weight (me and DD at home a lot more so had been conceding to their requests for lunch Blush).

Have cut that out and we have next appt in 10 days so will see how we're doing then.

MrFattyCat was obese when we adopted him 6m ago. He gets his dry food in this slow feeder. It helped him to lose weight as however much dry food I put down in a regular bowl, he used to snarfle the lot in one go, whereas there's usually some left in the slow feeder at the end of the day. He's also a lazy creature, and I don't think he can be bothered to go begging at other houses. Not entirely lazy, though, because he supplements his diet with the occasional mouse from the garden.
