Yup cat came in slow walking and limping, no idea what happened it look like a big chunk of skin is missing, poor thing
She need stitches, drip, bloods ect so is at the vets getting sorted.

Anyways we’ve been told we have to confine her inside and give her pain relief and meds. Ive never had to do this before, our old girl tabby is bomb proof and has never seen a vet outside of her yearly check so I’ve got no idea how I’m supposed to keep a young feisty cat confined and how to give her meds, any tips?
She’s a cat that was left by previous tenents that we’ve been looking after so not insured( will do now obviously) Ive never had a vet bill before and this was a bloody shocker! Grin luckily I’ve been saving for driving lessons so could pay off most and put the rest on a card.
This second hand menace will be the death of my bank account

She’s doing great today, it took her absolutely ages to settle last night she was up wobbling around till 1am but she’s settled in her bed today and is happily snoozing. She gets up to eat and annoy her sister then goes back to bed.
She snatched the pills before I had a chance to think, her greedy guts just took over and snaffled it up.

Slightly worried she hasn’t used the litter tray yet but hopefully she will soon

Can she get in the litter tray? Is it open top? Has she been drinking at all?

My cats found it awkward drinking with a cone

Mine likes to wait until 5 mins after the vet shuts, and then do a dramatic decline to end up at out of hours. Nearly three grand last time Hmm

He also refuses point blank to take any tablets so we have to do alternatives after the vet tried to give him one, he snaps shut into a ball and if you uncurl him, he just pings back again. It took two people to stop him curling up, and two to get a tablet in. Which he then spat out at the vet Blush

When Zara dislocated her wrist this year we were intially told she'd have to be confined for TWELVE WEEKS. She had a plate put into the joint. I'll be honest - we cheated. She wasn't really in the cages for twelve weeks and she made a brilliant recovery anyway - the paw is a bit less flexible after the bone fusion but it doesn't hamper her in the slightest and she has no pain. She leaps and sprints and does zoomies just like before.

Okay so practically speaking - the pain meds kept her calm at first. Then loads of petting, excessive dreamies, putting cat entertainment videos on a tablet (they really do watch them), catnip and new toys. Plus Z isn't the sharpest tool in the shed (she has the honour of being the first cat the surgeon had ever seen dislocate its wrist in that way, an injury usually reserved for dogs) so if you rearranged the stuff in her crate a bit it was like a whole new environment.
