A few months ago my beautiful 4 year old boy had to be put to sleep. We always knew once he had gone and it was just deadly silent we wanted another cat. I am now doing some research.

We have tried to enquire at places to adopt but because we live in a relatively urban area and we work full time doing shift work we were turned away at almost every place. Also, we would prefer a kitten.

So my question is - where can I responsibly get a kitten? Does anyone have any good websites for breeders etc - how did you find your cat? My original boy was found on fb! Yes I know not the greatest place.

Please don’t flame me.

Thanks :-)

My cat was advertised to be rehomed on pets for homes, there are all ages of cats for sale from kittens -older cats. You can set to search by area.

What reasons were you turned down for?
Whilst kittens don't need as much attention say as puppies, it would not be great to leave a single kitten alone for long periods of time.
If you're not home much, I would consider either getting a pair of kittens or a slightly older cat whose temperament is known and would be happy as a singleton.
You do have to consider what's best for you your pet.
If you live near dangerous roads, maybe a house cat would be better?
Some breeds are recommended to be kept inside, I think Ragdolls are not known for their road skills.
The GCCF is the feline equivalent to the Kennel Club and has information on their website about buying kittens.

Very vague reasons because we worked shifts (but full time) and because we live quite near a main road. Most of the time someone is home because of our shift patterns. For example this week I’ve done nights and my partner has done days, so if often falls that someone is home. My last cat was an indoor one though and I imagine we’ll do the same with this one.
Il have a look at GCCF, thank you. Maybe something like a rag doll is a good way to go Smile

If you want an indoor one being by a road shouldn’t be an issue. Our adult rescue is indoor only.

Usually rescues are happier to rehome kittens in pairs to working families, have you thought about adopting two?

I normally get older cats from rescue but my son recently "volunteered" me for a kitten, his next door neighbour had a litter. I have a very cat friendly older cat as well.
Pets4homes I'd have thought or a breeder.

Get a British shorthair. They are calm and love been indoors
