Cats' ashes (potentially triggering)

Very sorry if anyone is offended or hurt by this.

I'm doing a decluttering exercise (driven by another thread on MN).

It has occurred to me that the five little cat urns I have sitting on the top of a high shelf are really rather pointless, (and at constant risk of being kicked off by one of my very much alive cats).

Would it be unreasonable to get rid of them?

If so, I'll probably scatter their ashes. Any suggestions what do with the ashes (bearing in mind that several of the cats never lived in our current house)

I would scatter them somewhere they liked.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2021 12:03

Or if they didn't live there, just in a nice spot.

Bury them underneath a remembrance plant in your garden

Our dcat's ashes are in a small plastic box under a plant in a planter in the garden where he loved...

I took my two cats' ashes to an area of woodland I love and scattered them there.

You might have already seen ashesintoglass.co.uk but I did this with my previous cats' ashes (have them both in the same ring) and it's a lovely thing. And it made me less sentimental about their remaining ashes

Many thanks all for the suggestions. I'm glad that I'm not being considered awful for disposing of the urns.

Since several of them didn't live here I think we'll scatter their ashes in the backwater at the bottom of the garden. The ones who did live here were always attracted by it.

You could put them at the bottom of a large plant pot, and grow catnip (or a rose, or something else decorative!) on top.

I have Maia's ashes in a glass pig with her name on. Much to my families amusement. (They now do cats)

Beamur · 08/10/2021 14:01

I'd scatter them in a nice sunny spot that they would have enjoyed when they were alive.

Scatter them or bury them in your garden.

We have this pot from The Range.

Scatter them. It's your memories that matter.

Our plan has always been to bury our cats' ashes in the garden they loved. But we have had the ashes a while and they seem fairly solid now. I think we would find it hard to scatter them even if we wanted to.
