Cat peeing everywhere

We have a new rescue cat, she's the first cat we have owned. Because we have been settling her in she has been mainly staying in the main bedroom upstairs as that is away from the children, but she does have free reign of the house when she wants to look around. She knows her litter tray is downstairs, she's used it to do her poops and we have seen her doing her pees in there too.
However yesterday one of the kids accidentally shut the bedroom door, poor cat obviously needed the toilet so she went in our bed 😭. We cleaned it all up and disinfected, we also flipped the mattress once it was cleaned and dry.
We thought that was the last of it, I had put the dirty washing downstairs next to the washing machine as we already had a load in there. When I put it in the washing machine today it was soaking wet so I'm guessing she must have been peeing on it instead of her litter tray. Then just now my hubby got in to bed and said his side of the bed was wet, so I'm guessing she has gone on the bed again.
She was completely litter trained at the rescue centre and has used the litter tray here so I can't understand why she would be peeing on the bed/bedding now? And how do I stop it??

I’d get her checked for a UTI in the first instance. This was the first sign in my friend’s cat, so better to rule it out

I would scope out her litter tray area too. Our friends’ kitten started toileting in odd places, having arrived totally litter trained. My friend eventually realised after a couple of days that her kitten was terrified of their washing machine, which explained the intermittent toileting problems as the machine wasn’t always on.

I would put a tray upstairs too so she can access it when she's up there

More trays and check for infection. Try ultra clumping litter as it’s nice and soft on paws.

Vet check first of all, it could be a sign of cystitis (I've just been through this with my cat after he started peeing in the bath).

Then, look at the environment - you need at least two trays for her, ideally in private spaces where she's not being watched or bothered by anyone.

Look at the litter being used.

And then look at the house layout - does the cat have plenty of safe spaces to escape to? Dens or high up shelves etc?

Watching this with interest. My new rescue cat has wee'd on my bed twice now despite having had a thorough check up at the vet. I am keeping her shut downstairs at the moment but she has now started howling to get back upstairs. Could it be anxiety? I'm waiting on a call from the behaviour expert at the rescue home so if they shed any light I'll share here Smile
