Hi - I think our kitten is only going to have one come down ! He’s 4.5 months . Off to see a vet participating in the cat protection subsidise microchip and neutering scheme which I am eligible for .. but will they do it if it’s gonna be a more ££££ operation on thet scheme?
Just wondered ir anyone knew before I make some calls ! Thanks )

This happened with a friend of ours, though they didn't know till he went under the op

They did have to pay more

More through the subsidises scheme do you mean ?

Or more for just the vet op?

You need to pay more through the subsidised scheme. The scheme reimburses vets a set amount so they will charge you the addition on top of that.

Additionally removing an undescended testicle isn’t actually neutering as that testicle isn’t usable anyway. But removing it stops it developing into cancer, stops them spraying and stops it causing a blockage elsewhere. Medical procedure rather than neutering.

Well an update !

So I took him to the vet that does the cat protection neutering scheme for a check up the following day and she says both are descended ! Which is good obv!

But now I am wondering why the first vet so readily said it would be a £££ operation without really a long examination!

Anyway he’s booked in when he’s 6 months old so thanks all !

Great news!

No need to wait until 6 months. It’s actually better to neuter at 4 months to prevent unwanted behaviours, spraying etc.

Ah am not really waiting for him to be six months so much as timings work then (I’m going away a couple of times in oct for work and my eldest is house sitting etc so wait till that’s past!)
