Where can I buy clavaseptin 50mg without vet prescription?

I live rurally and can’t always get to the vets quickly and want to be able to help my cat who regularly gets attacked by a nearby wild cat. Ours keeps getting infected bits just around his legs and back.

When he does see the vet they give him clavaseptin which helps him so quickly so I’d rather not see him suffer if I can help him quicker than the time it takes to get him seen when I’m familiar with the issue.

Is there anywhere I can buy it? The vet won’t prescribe without seeing the cat abs each time that adds up to £120 each time for antibiotics that cost a tiny fraction of that and I can save him the stressful trip to the vet

They are prescription only, so you can’t buy them without a prescription.

I'm pretty sure you can't.

Assuming you're in the UK you can't. All oral antibiotics are prescription only. Sorry.

But what you could do is ask your vet for a repeat prescription of it, either for them to dispense a supply for you to keep at home, or a prescription you can use at one of the online vet drugs places.

If you can discuss with a sympathetic vet then a repeat prescription is a great idea.

I can thoroughly recommend Pet Drugs Online, our vet charges £15 to write the prescription that we then use on the website for our dog’s massively £££ daily meds. The prescription lasts for 6 months and saves us a fortune.

Wild cat as in Scottish wild cat or moggy gone feral?

If it’s the latter I’d want a rescue to help trap and neuter so they calm the fuck down. Then hopefully the fights won’t be so bad.

You can't. It's prescription only and vets aren't allowed to prescribe for animals they haven't seen recently. However a lot of vets are still offering video/phone consultations. You could request one and they will probably ask you to email photos of the wounds. It's called remote prescribing but it's only allowed as a temporary measure during the pandemic.

Your cat getting "regularly attacked" sounds alarming. Can you slowly restrict his outdoors forays? Keep him in at night etc?

Prescription only. The vet may offer you an online consultation for a written prescription but in person is so much better for the animal to assess the problem and rule out other problems.

It really is alarming.

This year it’s been at least 4 times (4 times too many)

It’s not wild wild cats, it’s feral moggys.

One of which seems to just sit outside in our garden waiting for ours. Sometimes looking in my back door.

We keep ours in at night, and generally try to have him indoors as much as possible but he loves being outside too. He doesn’t really leave the garden or roam at all.

He’s always been an outdoor cat and when I’ve tried to keep him in without letting him out he gets upset.

I feel like he was a happy cat and now he’s not so much any more.

He’s generally a small dainty looking cat and I wonder if it wouldn’t be so bad if he was bigger

I also have considered getting another cat and seeing if that helps but I’d hate for that to backfire and end up with 2 cats being bullied in their own garden.

I am wondering if some of the infected bites have come from foxes.
My neighbour caught the foxes chasing our cat on their cctv camera a few months ago.

I’m thinking of adding those spikes to the top of our fences but I equally don’t want to hurt our cat.

Every time I think of something to keep the other cats / foxes away it isnt any good for my cat
